Yacht Captain Job Description
Some of your duties as part of a yacht crew may include:
- Safe navigation of the yacht
- Budget management
- Decision making with regards to the crew
- Being a host when necessary
- Oversee the upkeep of the vessel
- Controlling repairs and maintenance
As part of a yacht crew you will need to be able to work well within a team and be able to take command of your crew. In general, the smaller the yacht, the more hands on the captain needs to be. The larger the yacht, the more crew members there will be and this takes off a lot of work from the captain’s hands. However, there will be a lot of administrative duties.
When you work as a yacht captain, you can enjoy a very rewarding career and one that involves a lot of teamwork and travelling. Marine experience will help your career, especially if you have marine experience.
