Private Family Chef job (M/F) in Coral Gables, Miami Florida, USA
Job description
A private family in Coral Gables is looking for a warm Chef to cook for two closely connected households, just 10 minutes apart. One is a family of five, the other a family of four, with young children aged 4 to 8.
This is a relaxed, family-centered role for a chef who loves feeding children as much as adults, and who enjoys having little helpers in the kitchen.
Responsibilities
- You'll split your week between the two homes on an agreed schedule, with occasional cooking at the family office.
- Menus range from simple, healthy family meals to more refined dishes when the occasion calls for it. You'll plan the week's menus with both families and adapt to each household's tastes, routines and dietary preferences.
- You'll also handle grocery shopping and sourcing, kitchen inventory and food budgets for both properties, and keep both kitchens spotless and organized.
- The children will join you in the kitchen from time to time, so cooking activities that are fun, safe and teach good eating habits are part of the job.
- Some weekend flexibility is needed. For example, you might take a Friday off in exchange for cooking on a Saturday or Sunday.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a private chef, family chef, or in a quality restaurant kitchen
- Genuine ease and patience with young children
- Range across cuisines, cooking well for both kids and adults
- Strong organization to run two kitchens on a flexible schedule
- Solid food safety and hygiene knowledge (ServSafe or equivalent is a plus)
- A valid driver's license and your own car
- Discretion, reliability and a positive attitude
- Excellent references
