Private Chef job (M/F) in Fonteta, Spain
Job description
Our client is seeking a Private Chef for her secondary residence located on the Costa Brava (between La Bisbal d'Empordà and Palafrugell).
Madame enjoys European, Asian, and Mediterranean cuisine — healthy, light, flavourful, and creative, without complex gastronomy.
The ideal chef will know how to elevate fresh, local produce while offering refined yet accessible cuisine, respectful of Madame's dietary preferences.
The residence occasionally welcomes guests, which requires a warm, discreet, and service-oriented attitude.
A perfectly trained Belgian Malinois dog shares Madame's daily life.
The position includes accommodation in an independent, fully equipped duplex on the property.
Fixed-term contract (CDD): immediate start, contract ending 31 October 2026.
Responsibilities
Meal Preparation
- Prepare two daily meals for Madame (lunch and dinner), six days per week
- Propose a weekly menu, subject to Madame's approval
- Prepare meals for receptions (1 to 8 guests)
- Prepare dishes to be stored or reheated, particularly for Sundays
Kitchen Organisation & Management
- Maintain impeccable hygiene in the kitchen, keeping it permanently clean, organised, and tidy
- Ensure complete upkeep of both the indoor kitchen and the summer kitchen (including the barbecue)
- Work with existing equipment; additional equipment may be provided if necessary
- Prepare items such as jams, ice creams, and sorbets, in compliance with food hygiene standards
Grocery Shopping & Product Selection
- Manage grocery shopping rigorously, without lengthy supply trips
- Visit local markets (fruits, vegetables, fish)
- Select fresh, high-quality products from local suppliers
Service & Table Presentation
- Set an elegant table according to Madame's standards
- Personally ensure elegant and well-balanced dish service
- Handle clearing of the table, as no additional staff is present for this task
Collaboration & Professional Attitude
- Work harmoniously with the household staff present
- Demonstrate discretion, punctuality, calm, and professionalism
- Be flexible: occasional additional days may be required and will be compensated
- Welcome Madame into the kitchen when she wishes to chat, in a warm and respectful spirit
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of professional cooking experience
- Proven experience as a Private Chef or in a high-standard residence
- Excellent mastery of healthy, light, European, Asian, and Mediterranean cuisine
- Mastery of techniques: fish, sushi, precise cooking, flavour balance
- Cooking without garlic, hard-boiled eggs, peppers, or cabbage; onions used only cooked
- Ability to organise elegant service and manage meal mise en place
- Ability to work alone, independently, and with complete discretion
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, rigour, and impeccable hygiene
- Verifiable and impeccable professional references
- Fluency in French (communication with the client will be in French); Spanish/English a plus
- Driving license essential
Work conditions
- Location: Costa Brava (Spain)
- Accommodation: Provided on the property — an independent duplex of approximately 80 m², with television, balcony, wifi, water, and electricity included
- Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (CDD), immediate start until 31 October 2026
- Working Hours: Approximately 6 hours per day, 6 days per week, 1 day off per week, flexibility required
- Benefits: Board and lodging included. Possibility of a company vehicle being made available
