Night Housekeeper job (M/F) in San Francisco, USA
Job description
We are seeking an exceptionally attentive, self-motivated, and discreet Night Housekeeper to join a private luxury estate.
This full-time position operates primarily on a overnight schedule (approximately 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM or 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, including Saturday and Sunday shifts).
This role is structured as a shared partnership with our existing Night Housekeeper.
You will work side-by-side with your counterpart 3 nights a week to tackle larger projects and execute seamless shift overhauls, while working independently on the remaining 2 nights.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background from 5-star luxury hotels or resort housekeeping operations, where working in complete silence, maintaining meticulous white-glove standards, and exercising proactive initiative are second nature.
Responsibilities
Deep Cleaning & Nightly Maintenance
- Perform thorough, low-noise deep cleaning and polishing across large-format estate areas while the household is at rest.
- Maintain fine surfaces (marble, hardwood, bronze, custom millwork, glass, mirror) using specialized care methods and appropriate non-abrasive products.
- Ensure all main living areas, entryways, dining halls, and high-traffic zones are pristine, reset, and flawless for the morning.
- Handle high-level garment and delicate linen care, including late-night laundering, precise ironing, steaming, and organized closet resets.
Turn-Down & Morning Reset Support
- Assist with late-night turn-down service or early-morning preparation according to exact household preferences.
- Reset formal areas, clear late-evening dishes, sanitize food prep areas, and restore kitchen spaces to immaculate condition before morning staff arrive.
- Maintain guest suites and secondary living spaces to luxury hotel turn-key standards.
Autonomous Operation & Initiative
- Conduct nightly walkthroughs to identify and correct detail oversights without requiring direction or task lists.
- Anticipate maintenance, stock, and cleaning needs across all wings of the property.
- Maintain a strict inventory of housekeeping supplies and restock amenities, linens, and cleaning products seamlessly.
Requirements
- Luxury Hotel Background: 3+ years of experience in housekeeping or turndown service within a 5-star hotel, luxury resort, or high-end hospitality environment.
- Mastery of Quiet Execution: Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and meticulously in absolute silence, respecting the rest and privacy of the household.
- Exceptional Initiative: A self-starter mindset — does not wait for instructions, but actively observes, anticipates, and executes tasks to high standards.
- White-Glove Attention to Detail: Precise eye for arrangement, symmetry, surface care, and cleanliness.
- Flexibility & Teamwork: High comfort level working both as a collaborative pair and as a single-coverage night operator.
- Schedule Availability: Fully available for overnight hours, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
