Job description

A European family recently relocated to Dubai is seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly organised Live-In Private Chef to join their household.

The family is composed of two adults and two children and follows a kosher lifestyle, making strong knowledge of kosher food preparation and kitchen practices essential.

The role involves preparing daily meals with a focus on healthy, fresh, and high-quality cuisine, as well as cooking Shabbat dinners every Friday, during which guests are regularly hosted.

This is a long-term position ideal for a professional chef who is comfortable working in a private residence, demonstrates cultural sensitivity, and takes pride in maintaining consistently high culinary standards.

Responsibilities

Meal Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare daily meals, including breakfast, light lunch, and dinner.
  • Cook healthy, balanced meals using fresh, seasonal, high-quality ingredients.
  • Prepare kosher meat dishes confidently across the cuisines listed, ensuring correct handling, preparation, and cooking methods.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of dairy alternatives to maintain kosher compliance while preserving flavour, texture, and quality.
  • Adapt meals to suit:
    • Adults and children

    • Dietary preferences, allergies, and nutritional requirements

  • Prepare meals for household staff as part of the role and contracted working hours.

Kosher Food Management

  • Work strictly within kosher guidelines, including:

    • Proper separation of meat and dairy

    • Knowledge of kosher-approved ingredients

    • Correct use of designated utensils, cookware, and appliances

  • Maintain a fully kosher kitchen at all times.
  • Liaise respectfully with the family regarding:
    • Kosher standards

    • Ingredient sourcing

    • Religious observances

  • Prepare meals in line with Shabbat requirements, including:

    • Advance preparation for Friday evening meals

    • Cooking for guests during Shabbat dinners

    • Understanding restrictions on cooking and food handling during Shabbat

Menu Planning & Organisation

  • Plan weekly menus aligned with the family’s preferences and schedule.
  • Ensure variety while maintaining nutritional balance.
  • Design special menus for:
    • Shabbat dinners

    • Family gatherings and hosted guests

  • Ensure meals are served on time and presented to a high standard.

Shopping & Kitchen Management

  • Source and purchase high-quality, kosher-certified ingredients from approved suppliers.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, stock levels, and forward planning of orders.
  • Minimise food waste by:
    • Planning menus around existing ingredients

    • Creatively repurposing ingredients across meals

    • Avoiding unnecessary or duplicate purchases

  • Limit last-minute or additional shopping to genuine needs or specific family requests.
  • Ensure correct food storage, labelling, rotation, and stock usage.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency in the kitchen.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety and hygiene regulations.

 

Household & Professional Conduct

  • Work collaboratively and respectfully within a private household environment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professional discretion at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with the family and household staff.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Private Chef or Senior Chef in private households or high-end hospitality.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with kosher food preparation and kosher kitchens.
  • Experience cooking for families and children.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to commit to a live-in role with a 6-day working week.
  • Comfortable with shared accommodation.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.

 

Culinary Skills & Experience

  • Expertise in healthy, fresh cooking.
  • Strong experience in:
    • Asian cuisine

    • Indian cuisine

    • Mediterranean cuisine

  • Skilled in fish- and vegetable-focused dishes.
  • Ability to adapt recipes to dietary, cultural, and religious requirements.
  • Creative yet respectful approach to traditional and religious meals.

 

Personal Attributes

  • Professional, discreet, and trustworthy.
  • Calm and well-organised under pressure, particularly during Shabbat preparation.
  • Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Culturally sensitive and respectful of Jewish traditions.
  • Child-friendly, approachable, and comfortable working in a family environment.

Work conditions

  • Accommodation: Shared accommodation provided
  • Work Schedule: 6 days per week, with 1 day off.
  • Location: Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE.
  • Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary

Competitive salary based on experience, (to be discussed during the interview).
