Job description
A warm and welcoming British family based in Dubai Hills, Dubai, UAE, is seeking an experienced, mature, highly organised, and professional Live-Out Housekeeper / Cook to take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of their household.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the home to an exceptionally high standard, including cleaning, laundry, wardrobe management, household organisation, grocery management, and cooking.
This is not a traditional housekeeping role the family is looking for someone who can think independently, use initiative, create and maintain household systems, and genuinely take ownership of the home rather than simply completing tasks when instructed.
The ideal candidate will have significant private household experience, ideally 10+ years working in private family homes, and will understand how to organise and manage a household with minimal direction.
The Housekeeper / Cook will also prepare approximately 70% of the family's meals and should therefore be a confident everyday family cook; the family enjoys Filipino food, and the successful candidate should be comfortable preparing a variety of family-style meals.
The family has three young boys aged 4 years, 2 years, and 18 months, as well as a friendly Cockapoo dog, so the Housekeeper / Cook should be comfortable around children and dogs and willing to occasionally provide an extra pair of hands when required.
Responsibilities
- Housekeeping & Cleaning: Maintain the home to an exceptionally high standard of
cleanliness, organisation, presentation, and hygiene. - Home Presentation: Ensure the home is consistently tidy, beautifully presented, and
guest-ready at all times. - Household Organisation: Create and maintain practical organisation systems throughout
the house, including wardrobes, drawers, cupboards, the pantry, fridge, linen cupboard, and
bathroom storage - Storage Management: Identify when baskets, drawer dividers, storage boxes, or other
organisational solutions are required and proactively arrange and implement appropriate
systems. - Laundry & Garment Care: Manage the family's laundry, including washing, drying,
ironing, folding, garment care, and proper storage. - Wardrobe Management: Keep wardrobes organised and ensure clothing is properly
folded, stored, categorised, and maintained. - Children's Clothing: Monitor the children's clothing, rotate items as required, and identify
clothes that are outgrown, worn out, or need replacing. - Cooking: Prepare approximately 70% of the family's meals and provide confident, fresh,
and well-prepared everyday family cooking. - Meal Preparation: Prepare a variety of family-style meals, including Filipino cuisine,
according to the family's preferences and requirements. - Grocery Management: Manage grocery shopping and ensure food supplies are properly
organised and maintained. - Fridge & Pantry Management: Organise food into clear categories, ensuring children's
snacks, breakfast items, pantry staples, and other food supplies are easy to find and properly
maintained. - Household Supplies: Monitor cleaning products, toiletries, linens, towels, and other
household essentials and proactively arrange replenishment when required. - Inventory Management: Keep track of household and food supplies and ensure essential
items are available when needed. - Children's Support: Occasionally assist with the three children when required, including
accompanying the family on outings such as soft play and providing an additional pair of
hands. - Pet Support: Be comfortable around the family's Cockapoo and assist with basic pet care
when required. - Teamwork: Work cooperatively with the family's nanny to ensure the household operates
smoothly and efficiently. - Initiative & Problem Solving: Identify what needs to be done without requiring
continuous instruction and proactively find practical solutions to improve the household. - Professionalism & Discretion: Maintain complete confidentiality, discretion,
professionalism, and respect for the family's privacy at all times.
Requirements
- Strong experience working in private family homes is highly preferred.
- Ideally 10+ years of private household experience, preferably with experience
independently managing housekeeping responsibilities. - Excellent housekeeping and cleaning skills with a strong eye for detail.
- Exceptional organisation skills and the ability to create and maintain household systems.
- Highly proactive, independent, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Strong common sense and the ability to anticipate the family's needs.
- Excellent laundry, ironing, folding, and garment-care knowledge.
- Confident everyday cooking skills, with the ability to prepare approximately 70% of the
family's meals. - Comfortable preparing Filipino and family-style cuisine.
- Experience managing groceries, household supplies, food inventory, and pantry
organisation. - Excellent understanding of household presentation and maintaining a consistently guestready home.
- Comfortable occasionally assisting with young children and family outings.
- Comfortable around dogs and willing to assist with basic pet care.
- A UAE driving licence is strongly preferred but not mandatory.
- Mature, reliable, flexible, presentable, and hardworking.
- Professional, discreet, respectful, and trustworthy.
