Job description

A private principal is seeking an experienced, proactive and highly organised House Manager to oversee the smooth operation of six private residences across Wales and Southern Spain.

The principal works full-time in advocacy and education and requires a trusted professional who can take full ownership of the day-to-day logistics, ensuring all homes are maintained to a high standard and prepared for arrival at short notice.

This is a hands-on and dynamic role requiring excellent organisational skills, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple properties, suppliers and travel logistics across two countries.

Responsibilities

Property Management
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of six private residences.
  • Coordinate cleaning schedules, deep cleans, and household preparation before arrivals.
  • Manage maintenance, repairs and contractors.
  • Conduct regular property inspections when homes are unoccupied.
  • Oversee seasonal maintenance including gardens, pools and heating systems.
  • Manage security systems, keys and contractor access.

 

Travel & Logistics
  • Coordinate the principal’s frequent travel between the UK and Spain.
  • Book flights, airport transfers and chauffeur services.
  • Arrange ground transportation for work-related travel.
  • Manage last-minute travel changes and maintain a travel calendar.

 

Vehicle Management
  • Track the location and availability of vehicles across properties.
  • Coordinate servicing, MOTs, ITV inspections (Spain) and insurance.
  • Arrange vehicle transport between properties when required.

 

Household Provisioning
  • Ensure all residences are fully prepared prior to arrival.
  • Arrange grocery shopping and fridge stocking.
  • Maintain supplies including toiletries, linens, cleaning and household essentials.
  • Coordinate laundry and linen changes.
  • Organise additional requests for guests or special occasions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a House Manager / Estate Manager / Private Household Manager.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proactive and capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong experience coordinating suppliers, contractors and household services.
  • Professional, discreet and reliable.
  • Fluent English essential.
  • Spanish language skills highly desirable.

Work conditions

Location & Travel
 
This role involves regular travel between Wales and Southern Spain, typically including:
  • Approximately 3 months based in the UK
  • 3–4 months based in Spain
  • Additional travel periods depending on the principal’s schedule
  • Flexibility is essential as the principal’s diary can change at short notice.
  • Location: Wales & Southern Spain (extensive travel)
  • Position: Live-out

Salary

From £60,000+ depending on experience
