Our Recruitment Process

You are trusting someone with your home, your family, and your privacy. That is not a decision to rush.

Our recruitment process has multiple stages, with each one designed to make sure only the most experienced, thoroughly vetted candidates reach you.

For every 100 applications we receive, roughly 2 or 3 candidates make it through. That is the standard we hold.

It Starts With You

Before we search for anyone, we need to understand your life.

We discuss four things: the role itself, your household routine, the personality that would fit, and any specific requirements like languages, travel, or live-in arrangements.

This conversation shapes everything that follows. The more detail you share, the better we match.

Once we have built a clear picture, we begin searching through our database of 200,000+ registered professionals, our global network, and targeted headhunting where needed.

How We Select Candidates

Our database covers eight offices – New York, Los Angeles, Miami, London, Paris, Switzerland, Monaco and Dubai. When you brief us, every office can search for your match at the same time.

If a strong candidate lives far from you, we can arrange face-to-face interviews. This includes organising flights, trains, hotels, and taxis where needed. You can also choose a video or phone interview first.

When you contact us, we focus on building your ideal candidate profile.

We learn what your expectations are, your lifestyle, and the exact responsibilities of the role. We also discuss personality, because in household staffing, the person living alongside your family needs to be someone you genuinely want around.

Candidate Search

Our database holds 200,000+ fully registered professionals. For every four applications we receive, roughly one makes it through to registered status.

Every candidate in our system has been interviewed by one of our specialist recruiters and passed initial background checks before they are ever presented to a client.

Our system filters candidates across multiple criteria in seconds - languages, certifications, availability, location preferences, driving licence, dietary specialisms, and more.

Candidate Background Checks

This is where we are most thorough. Our recruiters verify:

  • Employment history and references (minimum 2-3 former employers contacted by phone)
  • Criminal record checks (clear records required - no exceptions)
  • Qualifications and training certificates
  • Work permits and right-to-work documentation
  • Driving licence and passport
  • In-depth online and social media review

In the US, we also work with a third-party provider that checks thousands of data points from government sources.

A candidate cannot be presented to you until these checks are completed. Our system blocks progression until every verification step is done, and a dedicated quality manager audits candidate files to make sure nothing is missed.

Contract Drafting

We prepare employment agreements that set clear terms between you and your new staff member.

In permanent roles, the candidate is employed directly by you. For temporary placements, we handle the employment and billing.

Employee Relocation Support

Many of our placements involve international moves. We help with accommodation, visa applications, and work permits to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Recruitment Advisory

Our team can help with tax obligations, insurance requirements, employment contracts, and household safety protocols. If you have questions about employing household staff in your country, we are here to help.

Our Exclusive Candidate Database

Curriculum Vitae/Resume

Recent photo in work attire (no more than 3 months prior)

Reference letters from at least two previous employers (both specific to the position and to the client’s personal requirements)

Contact details for three previous employers (name, address, telephone number and email address, or contact of individual/agency in charge of previous placement)

Work certificates of three previous placements

Work permit for non-nationals

Qualifications and training certificates

For chefs: six photos of their starters, main courses and desserts

Proof of identity

Proof of address

Criminal record checks

Up-to-date driving license

Pilot or skipper license if applicable

Pledge of discretion and confidentiality signed by candidate(s) NB. In cases of caretaker couple or domestic couple positions these documents are required from both candidates
