Job description

Our client is a highly educated, international family seeking an exceptional Travelling Governess to support the education and development of their three children in a long-term position.

The family divides their time between Seattle (USA) and Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and travels extensively throughout the year, particularly to the United Kingdom.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an intelligent, energetic, and proactive career Governess who is genuinely passionate about child development and enjoys creating enriching experiences for children.

Children
• Girl, 8 years old
• Girl, 5 years old
• Boy, 12 years old (currently attending boarding school in the UK)

The role will focus primarily on the two girls, although occasional support with all three children will be required.

The successful candidate will take sole charge of the children's education, development, and daily activities while working alongside tutors, teachers, and the parents.

This is not a traditional nanny role. The family is looking for someone who can inspire curiosity, encourage learning through play, identify each child's strengths and interests, and actively contribute to their intellectual, social, and emotional development.

The Governess will also provide occasional light PA support to the mother during school hours, such as making reservations, organising activities, or assisting with personal errands.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the children's educational, emotional, and social development
  • Creating engaging educational programmes and learning through play
  • Planning stimulating age-appropriate activities
  • Organising museum visits, cultural outings, sports, and educational excursions
  • Researching and arranging extracurricular activities
  • Helping with homework and school projects
  • Liaising with teachers and tutors
  • Identifying each child's talents and making recommendations for further development
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, good manners, and positive behaviour
  • Travelling internationally with the family
  • Accompanying the children to appointments and activities
  • Maintaining children's routines while travelling
  • Tidying children's toys, books, and play areas after activities
  • Providing occasional PA assistance to the mother during school hours (bookings, reservations, light administrative support)

No cooking, laundry, or housekeeping duties are required. The household is fully staffed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A career Governess or Educational Nanny
  • Highly educated with excellent academic abilities
  • Passionate about child development and education
  • Naturally proactive with excellent initiative
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and full of ideas
  • Highly organised
  • Extremely energetic with excellent stamina
  • Physically fit and sporty
  • Warm, engaging, and able to build strong relationships with children
  • Comfortable travelling extensively
  • Professional, discreet, and accustomed to working within high-profile or UHNW households
  • Able to follow security protocols and respect the family's privacy
  • Committed to a long-term position
  • The family is looking for someone who becomes a genuine mentor and role model for the children, constantly looking for opportunities to enrich their learning and broaden their experiences.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a Governess, Educational Nanny, or in a similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of child development
  • Fluent English with an excellent command of the language and a British accent (native
  • English speakers are welcome but not essential if the candidate naturally speaks with a British accent)
  • Experience working alongside schools and tutors
  • University degree preferred (Education, Child Development, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or a related field would be highly advantageous)
  • Additional languages are a plus
  • Physically fit and active
  • Happy to relocate internationally and travel worldwide
  • Able to commit to the family for several years

Work conditions

Schedule
The exact schedule will be discussed with the successful candidate, but it will generally be 5 to 6 days per week.

Typical working hours are:
• 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
• 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

During school hours (approximately 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.), there will generally be downtime, although occasional light PA duties for the mother may be required.

Accommodation

This is a live-in position.

The family will provide excellent private accommodation, either within the family compound or in separate accommodation, depending on the location. Comfortable private accommodation will also be provided during international travel.

Benefits

  • Permanent, long-term contract
  • Work permits and visas for the USA and Uzbekistan arranged by the family
  • Extensive international travel
  • Opportunity to work within a fully staffed, professional household
  • Immediate start preferred

This position would suit an ambitious, energetic, and intellectually curious Governess who thrives in an international environment and is passionate about helping children reach their full potential through meaningful experiences, structured learning, and creative exploration.
