Travelling Butler job (M/F) in Monaco
Job description
A UHNW family based in Monaco is seeking a Travelling Butler (M/F). This versatile and demanding role is open both to a highly experienced senior profile and to a more junior profile with strong potential; motivation, responsiveness, situational intelligence, and a sense of service take precedence over years of experience. Discretion and confidentiality are absolute requirements.
A team of household staff is already in place to handle the day-to-day running of the home. The Butler will be dedicated primarily to Monsieur’s personal needs.
The family is French-speaking, and French is the language spoken day to day. English is essential for travel and international trips.
Monegasque contract, permanent full-time (CDI), monthly salary. Position available immediately
Responsibilities
Wardrobe Management
- Preparing and organising Monsieur’s outfits daily (sport, business, casual, evening, etc.)
- Ironing, garment care, and shoe polishing
- Organising the dressing room and keeping a rigorous inventory
Travel
- Full packing of suitcases: outfits, accessories, and toiletries suited to each trip
- Accompanying Monsieur on his travels in France and abroad (several times a month)
- Anticipating and organising the logistics of every trip
Service & Monsieur’s Wellbeing
- High-end table service: excellent knowledge of service etiquette and standards
- Knowledge of the various cutlery and utensils (fish knives, serving knives, etc.)
- Preparing and managing Monsieur’s medication and vitamins
- Constantly anticipating Monsieur’s needs: a discreet and proactive presence
Coordination & Household Life
- Managing stock related to Monsieur’s needs
- Preparing and setting up spaces for receptions; the family entertains regularly
- Actively contributing to the smooth running of the household
Requirements
For a senior profile:
- Significant experience in large private households, luxury hotels, or high-end establishments
- Specialist training valued (butler school, sommelier training, protocol, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of service codes and international etiquette
For a junior profile:
- Experience is secondary if the candidate is particularly resourceful, works intelligently, and is extremely organised and responsive
- A genuine desire to learn and progress in an environment of excellence
- Strong adaptability and ability to anticipate
For both profiles:
- Fluent French; English essential for travel
- Excellent presentation: uniform worn year-round (navy blue suit, shirt, and tie)
- Absolute discretion, natural elegance, and an impeccable eye for detail
- A very good knowledge of wine is a highly valued asset
- Dynamic, responsive, organised, and independent
- Valid EU passport: mandatory
- ESTA eligibility (for travel to the United States): essential
- Category B driving licence valued (a chauffeur is already in post, but the Butler will be required to handle Monsieur’s transfers)
Work conditions
- Location: Monaco
- Contract: Monegasque permanent contract (CDI)
- Working hours: 8am–1pm / 5pm–10pm, 6 days out of 7, with flexibility. These hours represent the maximum contractual volume; in practice, when circumstances allow, two days off may gladly be granted. A degree of flexibility is expected according to the needs of Monsieur and the family.
- Frequent travel in France and internationally (availability and mobility essential).
