Job description

A private client in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a skilled, proactive, and highly versatile Handyman / Jack-of-All-Trades to manage the hands-on maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of a private residence and property.

Rather than a administrative Facilities Manager, this role requires a true, hands-on practitioner who takes pride in manual craftsmanship and multi-disciplinary household care.

The ideal candidate is adept at everything from fine carpentry and custom builds to basic trade repairs, property maintenance, vehicle care, and outdoor groundskeeping.

Responsibilities

General Maintenance & Repairs

  • Surface Care & Painting: Perform routine sheetrock patching, dry-wall repair, interior/exterior touch-ups, surface prep, and painting.
  • Light Plumbing: Address basic plumbing needs, including fixing leaks, replacing faucets/fixtures, clearing light clogs, and servicing toilets.
  • Light Electrical: Replace light fixtures, dimmers, outlets, switches, wall-mounted TVs, and troubleshooting low-voltage lighting systems.
  • Hardware & Assembly: Repair doors, hinges, locks, cabinet hardware, and assemble high-end home furniture or outdoor equipment.

Custom Building & Carpentry

  • Small Construction Projects: Build custom outdoor items, play structures, chicken coops, raised garden beds, storage solutions, or minor wood structures.
  • Woodworking Care: Inspect, repair, and re-stain or seal decks, fences, gates, and outdoor wooden amenities.

Groundskeeping & Outdoor Maintenance

  • Gardening Support: Assist with routine landscape maintenance, irrigation line repairs, bed upkeep, weeding, and tree/shrub trimming.
  • Outdoor Facilities: Monitor, clean, and maintain hardscapes, patios, drainage, and seasonal outdoor setup (patio furniture, power washing, gutters).

Fleet & Vehicle Maintenance

  • Automotive Care: Oversee household vehicles—scheduling routine servicing, tire rotations, oil changes, detailing’s, fuel/EV charging upkeep, and minor DIY fixes (wipers, bulbs, fluid top-offs).

Requirements

  • Hands-On Trade Experience: Multi-year background in residential handyman work, construction, carpentry, or multi-trade maintenance.
  • Problem Solver: Resourceful, self-motivated, and capable of diagnosing household issues quickly with practical solutions.
  • Work Ethic & Efficiency: Strong time-management skills; capable of prioritizing tasks independently while keeping the property running smoothly.
  • Discretion & Professionalism: Respectful of family privacy, clean work habits, and comfortable working around high-net-worth households.
  • Requirements: Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record; physical stamina to lift heavy items, work on ladders, and work outdoors; clear background check.

Work conditions

  • Start Date: Flexible
  • Location: San Francisco, Bay Area
  • Schedule: Full-time schedule, must be flexible with long days as needed

Salary

$120,000 / year (commensurate with experience) PTO/Health/401k
