Job description

We are seeking an experienced and professional Live-in Private Cook for a local Emirati family
in Shakhbout City, Abu Dhabi.

The position is for a family of four adults, with responsibility for preparing breakfast, lunch, and
dinner on a daily basis.

The family is particularly seeking a cook with a strong understanding of nutrition and healthy
cooking, as one of the family members follows specific dietary requirements related to diabetes,
high blood pressure, and cholesterol.

About the Home

The residence is a private family home in Abu Dhabi occupied by four adults. The family occasionally hosts guests and small gatherings, approximately once every two to three months, where the cook may be required to prepare meals for additional guests.

The family appreciates healthy Mediterranean-style cuisine as well as traditional Arabic and local
dishes.

The successful candidate will share staff accommodation with one existing Indonesian staff
member.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the family.
  • Planning and preparing healthy, nutritious, and well-balanced meals.
  • Creating menus that take into consideration diabetes, cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of nutrition, healthy ingredients, portion control,
    and balanced meals.
  • Preparing Mediterranean-style cuisine and healthy international dishes.
  • Preparing traditional Arabic and local dishes when requested.
  • Working with the family to understand their nutritional goals and dietary preferences.
  • Adapting menus according to individual dietary requirements.
  • Preparing grocery and ingredient lists and identifying the required products.
  • Handling grocery shopping and purchasing fresh, high-quality ingredients.
  • Maintaining excellent kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and organisation.
  • Occasionally preparing meals for guests and small family gatherings.
  • Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and freshness.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Private Cook, Household Cook, Private Chef, or similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of healthy and nutritious cooking.
  • Good understanding of dietary requirements relating to diabetes, cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
  • Knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine and healthy international dishes.
  • Ability to prepare traditional Arabic and local cuisine is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of nutrition, ingredients, portion sizes, and balanced meal planning.
  • Experience preparing meals according to specific dietary or nutritional plans.
  • Able to communicate with the family regarding nutritional requirements and meal planning.
  • Good grocery shopping and ingredient selection skills.
  • Professional, reliable, discreet, and trustworthy personality.
  • Excellent hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the family's requirements.
  • Candidates of all nationalities will be considered.
  • Experience working for private families or VIP households is highly desirable.

Work conditions

  • Position: Full-time, live-in
  • Accommodation: Shared staff accommodation with one existing Indonesian staff member
  • Working Days: 6 days per week, 1 day off
  • Working Hours: Full-time, according to the family's daily requirements, including
    breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Start date: October onwards, although an earlier start may be considered for the right
    candidate
  • Visa sponsorship, medical insurance, and annual flight ticket provided
  • Interview: In-person interview preferred; an initial online interview may be arranged for
    candidates currently based outside Abu Dhabi
  • Trial Period: Approximately 3–4 days
  • Trial Accommodation: Hotel accommodation may be arranged and paid for by the family
    during the trial period when required
  • Trial Transportation: Transportation costs may be covered by the family during the trial
    period

Salary

AED 4,000–5,000 per month, depending on experience and suitability
