Night Caregiver / Night Companion job (M/F) in Dubai, UAE
Job description
A private family based in Dubai is seeking a compassionate and attentive Night Caregiver / Night Companion to provide overnight support to an 84-year-old female principal with early- stage memory decline and anxiety.
The principal is largely independent and supported by a daytime caregiver. The successful candidate will provide reassurance, supervision, and companionship during the night, ensuring her comfort, safety, and wellbeing while maintaining her independence and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive overnight supervision and companionship.
- Remain available throughout the night to assist if the principal requires support or reassurance.
- Monitor the principal's wellbeing and observe for any changes in her physical, emotional, or cognitive condition.
- Ensure the principal remains safe and comfortable during nighttime hours.
- Assist with nighttime routines and provide support when required.
- Provide a calm and reassuring presence during periods of anxiety, confusion, or distress.
- Support the principal through occasional episodes of panic or emotional discomfort.
- Use patience, empathy, and appropriate de-escalation techniques to help maintain a calm Environment.
- Foster a sense of security and companionship throughout the night.
- Monitor general wellbeing and report any concerns to the family or daytime caregiver.
- Record observations and communicate relevant information during handovers.
- Assist with medication reminders if required and as instructed by the family.
- Monitor basic health indicators when necessary.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the principal.
- Engage in conversation and provide emotional support when needed.
- Encourage confidence and independence while remaining available for assistance.
- Adapt communication and support style to the principal's personality and needs.
- Accompany the principal and family on international travel when required.
- Provide continuity of care and companionship during trips.
- Help maintain familiar routines and provide reassurance in new environments.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Caregiver, Companion, Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker, or in a similar elderly care role.
- Being a registered Nurse is essential
- Experience supporting elderly individuals, particularly those with memory decline, dementia, anxiety, or related conditions.
- A calm, patient, and compassionate nature with the ability to provide reassurance and emotional support.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to recognize and report changes in wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional, discreet, and respectful of privacy.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and adaptable to the needs of the principal and household.
- Previous experience within a private household, live-in environment, or travel role would be advantageous.
- Basic caregiving, healthcare, or first aid training is beneficial but not essential.
Work conditions
- Accommodation: Live-in – accommodation provided
- Work Schedule: 6 days per week, 1 day off
- Location: Dubai, UAE
