Job description
A busy couple in New Canaan, CT is seeking an engaging, good-natured nanny to partner with them in caring for their two young children.
The ideal candidate will be a camp counselor type who makes learning fun and enjoyable. With Mom often at home, the nanny will typically focus on one child at a time.
The parents value good manners, kindness, and thoughtfulness, and want these qualities taught in an engaging way. This live-out position is perfect for someone who enjoys combining high-level learning with plenty of play.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive care for two young children in a nurturing environment
- Create and implement engaging, educational activities that make learning fun
- Foster good manners, kindness, and thoughtfulness through positive interactions
- Adapt care approach to work with one child at a time when Mom is home
- Coordinate with parents to ensure consistent care and communication
- Handle occasional overnight care
- Accompany the family on travel approximately three times per year
- Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate family needs
Requirements
- An energetic, creative nanny with a camp counselor personality, who excels at making learning enjoyable for young children
- Experienced in caring for multiple children, with the ability to engage them through educational play and activities
- A strong communicator who can partner effectively with parents
- Someone who naturally embodies good manners, kindness, and thoughtfulness, and can teach them in a fun way
- Flexible for occasional overnights and some travel
- Comfortable around cats
- Warm and patient, with genuine enthusiasm for child development
Work conditions
- Monday to Friday, either 12pm to 8pm or 8am to 7pm, depending on mutual preference
- Occasional overnight care, with additional compensation
- Travel with the family about three times a year, usually for no more than a week at a time
- No housework required, as a full-time housekeeper handles all household duties
- A few cats on the premises
- Competitive salary, depending on experience
