Job description

A delightful French family (a busy executive father and his polite, happy, and energetic 5-year-old son) who recently relocated to London is seeking an outstanding, development-focused AfterSchool Nanny or Governor/Governess.

The 5-year-old boy attends the French Lycée in South Kensington. He is very active, sporty (enjoying swimming, boxing, and sports), curious, and well-mannered.

The main priority of this role is language progression and developmental support: the nanny will engage him entirely in English to help him build fluency and confidence quickly.

The ideal candidate understands child psychology, promotes active physical and social engagement, maintains clear boundaries with discretion and warmth, and fosters a structured, nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

Childcare, Development & Language Immersion

  • School Pick-up & Transport: Pick up the child from South Kensington (16:30
Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri; 13:00 on Wednesdays) and escort him home to Lancaster Gate or to
    scheduled activities.
  • English Language Immersion: Speak exclusively in English with the child to accelerate
his English vocabulary, reading, and conversational fluency.
  • Developmental Activities & Sports: Organize engaging sports, outdoor play, playdates,
swimming, boxing sessions, and creative activities tailored to a sporty, curious 5-year-old.
  • Childcare & Evening Routine: Prepare healthy afternoon snacks/meals, assist with
evening wind-down, and handle bedtime routines on occasions when the father works late.
  • Wardrobe & Household Coordination: Keep the child's wardrobe tidy and organized,
liaising with the family's housekeeper to ensure smooth running of child-related laundry
    and room care.

Light PA / Admin Duties (Optional - ~10%)

  • Handle light administrative tasks for the household as needed (e.g., managing children's
activity schedules, booking appointments, making phone calls, accepting deliveries).

Requirements

  • Fluent English Speaker: Fluent English to drive rapid language acquisition. Basic
understanding or knowledge of French is a bonus, but not required.
  • Childcare Expertise: Proven track record in early-years development, child psychology,
or nanny/governess experience with high-net-worth families.
  • Active & Sporty: Energetic, proactive, and genuinely passionate about physical activities,
    sports, and outdoor play.
  • Professional Demeanor: Discreet, respectful of family privacy, organized, non-intrusive,
    and highly reliable.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to offer occasional evening babysitting or weekend hours by
    mutual agreement.
  • References & Vetting: Verifiable references, clean DBS check, and valid UK work
    authorization.

Work conditions

  • Schedule: Approx. 25–30 hours/week (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri: ~16:30–20:00/21:00; Wed:
    ~13:00–21:00) + occasional babysitting/weekends
  • Guaranteed Hours: 25–30 hours per week (plus extra hours for optional PA/admin tasks
    and babysitting).

  • Type: Live-Out (Self-Employed or Employed)
  • Start Date: Immediate (Within 2–3 weeks
