Job description

A warm, welcoming international family based in Iceland is seeking an energetic, organised and
positive Nanny / Family Assistant to join their household on a long-term basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a family team. The
parents are very involved in their children's lives, so this is not a sole-charge nanny role.

Instead, they are looking for a proactive all-rounder who enjoys spending time with children while also
helping to keep the household running smoothly.

The family has two active young boys who attend school/preschool during the day. They are
looking for someone who brings warmth, enthusiasm and a positive attitude into the home.

Responsibilities

Childcare

  • Preparing breakfast and meals for the children
  • Helping with school and preschool routines
  • School collections when required
  • Planning engaging indoor and outdoor activities
  • Encouraging curiosity, creativity and independence
  • Supporting the children's emotional and social development
  • Organising playdates and activities
  • Supervising homework when appropriate
  • Travelling with the family

Household Support

While the children are at school, the successful candidate will help keep the household organised
by:

  • Family laundry
  • Changing bed linen and towels
  • Keeping the kitchen clean and organised
  • Restocking the fridge and household essentials
  • Grocery shopping and running errands
  • Meal preparation for the children and occasionally for the family
  • Keeping the home tidy between visits from the cleaners

Please note that deep cleaning is not required, as professional cleaners are employed.

Requirements

The family is looking for someone who is:

  • Warm, cheerful and optimistic
  • Honest, trustworthy and discreet
  • Independent and proactive
  • Energetic and physically active
  • Organised with excellent common sense
  • A genuine team player
  • Adaptable and flexible with changing family schedules
  • Emotionally intelligent and patient
  • Comfortable working in a busy family environment
  • Happy spending time outdoors in all seasons
  • A confident cyclist (cargo bike experience or willingness to learn)
  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with children and private families preferred
  • Excellent spoken English (essential)
  • Non-smoker
  • Previous experience working in private households
  • Happy to travel regularly with the family
  • Able to assist with both childcare and household duties
  • No significant personal commitments that would affect long-term employment

Visa sponsorship may be available for an outstanding candidate. Preference will be given to
EU/EEA citizens, although exceptional non-EU candidates will also be considered

Work conditions

Desirable

  • Driver's licence
  • Mandarin language skills
  • Scandinavian language
  • Background in childcare or education
  • Interest in mindfulness, wellbeing or child development

Working Schedule

  • Five working days per week (including some weekends)
  • Two consecutive days off during the week
  • Approximately 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
  • Daily break of approximately 1–2 hours
  • Live-in accommodation provided
  • Regular travel with the family, both within Europe and internationally
  • Accommodation: Private live-in accommodation will be provided.

Salary

GBP 60,000 – GBP 80,000 gross per annum, depending on experience and whether visa sponsorship is required.
