Head Housekeeper job (M/F) in Dubai, UAE
Job description
A Western family of five, plus one small dog (West Highland Terrier), is seeking a polite, proactive, experienced, and confident Head Housekeeper to support their primary residence.
This is a full-time, live-in position, with flexibility around the family's requirements expected. The property is located within a residential community in Dubai.
The Lead Housekeeper will be primarily responsible for the operational running and maintenance management of the property (6 bedrooms), working alongside an existing secondary live-out Housekeeper, a Nanny, and a Driver all of whom have a strong, respectful working relationship with the family and have been in post for 2–5 years.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning and maintaining the household using minimal chemicals, with knowledge of which products are safe for specialised surfaces
- Laundry, ironing, and wardrobe management
- Basic meal preparation for adults and family
- Maintaining grocery stock, generating shopping lists, and doing grocery shopping when needed
- Troubleshooting day-to-day maintenance issues independently and organising contractors from initial contact through to site inspection, supervision, and communicating key updates via the family's WhatsApp maintenance group
- Establishing and maintaining a good, professional relationship with the house's regular contractors (annual maintenance, landscaping, pool cleaning, elevator service, window cleaning, pest control, drain cleaning, etc.) for effective day-to-day management and coordination
- Sharing invoices with the family's PA for review and payment
- Managing and reconciling petty cash for deliveries and ad hoc contractor payments
- Interacting naturally and warmly with the children, checking in and offering help to them and the Nanny as needed, without taking over the Nanny's role — the children are capable of independence and are not to be actively served
- Actively seeking ways to add value through initiative and common sense, thinking ahead and anticipating the household's needs proactively
Requirements
- Experienced, confident, and comfortable troubleshooting independently, with a genuine work ethic
- Proactive and self-motivated, able to work entirely independently and without supervision — comfortable being alone at the villa with either one or zero other staff present at times
- Highly organised with excellent common sense
- Comfortable receiving direction and feedback in a direct communication style, which is the family's preference
- Excellent, clear communicator, respectful to all members of the household and fellow staff members
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Warm and engaging with the children, while respecting the boundaries of the Nanny's role
- Able to hit the ground running based on prior experience, with minimal onboarding required
Work conditions
- Accommodation: Live-in position, with the Lead Housekeeper given her own en-suite room within the villa.
- Work Schedule: 6 days/week
