Job description
A principal relocating from Dubai to Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Family Assistant to support both her and her 11-year-old daughter during a major life transition.
This is a highly dynamic role for a professional who can combine family assistance, childcare support, errands, light housekeeping, and general household support within a private home environment.
The successful candidate will provide practical day-to-day support the family, helping maintain structure, consistency, and smooth household functioning while also serving as a trusted companion and support person for the daughter.
The ideal candidate is proactive, energetic, flexible, and highly organized, with the maturity and adaptability required to support a private household in transition. This is expected to be a live-out position with flexibility for overnights and international travel.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall family assistance and day-to-day support to the principal and her daughter.
- Assist with school-related responsibilities, including school pick-up, transportation, and after-school supervision when needed.
- Accompany the daughter, keep her company, and provide responsible adult supervision when the principal is unavailable.
- Run errands, pick up medications and household items, and assist with general administrative or practical tasks.
- Provide light housekeeping support, including maintaining organization, helping keep spaces tidy, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
- Assist with simple meal preparation or cooking when possible.
- Support the daughter with routine, companionship, and age-appropriate engagement while respecting her growing independence.
- Help maintain household order and proactively identify tasks that need to be handled without requiring constant instruction.
- Travel domestically and internationally with the principal and daughter when required.
- Remain flexible to adapt responsibilities as the household’s needs evolve over time.
- Assist with school drop-off and pick-up as needed.
- Run household errands, including shopping, pharmacy visits, and general tasks.
- Manage small daily expenses responsibly (e.g., groceries, errands, child-related purchases such as snacks or Starbucks).
- Support a pet-friendly household, including comfort around and interaction with dogs.
- Drive the family vehicle when required for errands and child-related activities.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in private households in a combined family assistant, nanny, or household support role.
- Experience working with school-aged children and supporting busy principals.
- Strong organizational skills and a highly proactive mindset.
- Comfortable assisting with errands, household support, and light housekeeping.
- Cooking skills or willingness to assist with simple meal preparation preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Valid passport and legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Flexible, energetic, and solution-oriented personality.
- Professional, discreet, and trustworthy.
- Comfortable working in a live-out role with occasional overnight flexibility.
- Must be comfortable with pets and genuinely enjoy being around dogs.
- Valid driver’s license required; candidate must be confident driving and willing to use a family-provided vehicle (insured by the employer).
- Must be highly trustworthy and responsible when handling small amounts of cash or daily expenses.
Professional boundaries are essential:
- No guests, including partners, allowed in the residence.
- No smoking or substance use at any time, including during off-duty hours while residing in the home (if live-in).
