Job description

A busy business owner and father of three (ages 15, 13, and 4) in Charleston, SC, is seeking a proactive, highly organized, and trusted Household Manager / Family Assistant.

This role is designed to support the father by managing the children’s daily schedules, activities, and overall well-being ensuring they remain active, engaged, and organized while helping to create a balanced, enjoyable family life.

The ideal candidate brings the intuition, warmth, and leadership to run a seamless household.

You must be attentive to the children's individual needs, proactive in addressing them, and capable of providing the principal with the freedom to focus on his business and spend quality 1-on-1 time with each child.

Responsibilities

Childcare, Logistics & Academic Support

  • Daily Routines & Transportation: Assist with school drop-offs and pick-ups, after-school care, and transportation to/from appointments, sports, and social events.
  • Academic & Activity Management: Track school schedules, manage assignments, oversee uniforms, provide homework help, and coordinate directly with tutors and educational support.
  • Extracurricular Coordination: Research, schedule, and manage all extracurricular activities and enrichment programs tailored to each child's interests.
  • Healthcare Logistics: Schedule, confirm, and follow up on all medical, dental, and essential appointments.
  • Sole Charge Coverage & Engagement: Serve as the trusted, responsible adult running the home during the employer's overnight business trips. Plan fun, engaging activities while offering consistent emotional support.

 

Household Management & Operational Support

  • Staff Supervision: Manage the housekeeper to ensure the home is consistently cleaned, organized, and maintained to high standards.
  • Property & Administrative Management: Coordinate contractors, oversee repairs, receive deliveries, handle miscellaneous household tasks, and ensure overall operational continuity.
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare light, healthy meals and snacks for the children and generally assist with light household food prep.

Requirements

  • Dependability & Flexibility: Ability to accommodate occasional schedule changes based on the employer's demanding professional obligations.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness to undertake occasional international travel and domestic travel (e.g., to the family’s home in Florida). A valid passport is required/a strong plus.
  • Adaptability: High emotional intelligence, discretion, and a proactive mindset. Responsibilities may grow and evolve as the role develops, making open communication essential.
  • Requirements: 5+ years of experience in high-end private households, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and background check clearance.

  • Start Date: Flexible
  • Location: Charleston, SC - Live-Out
  • Schedule: Full-time schedule, must be flexible with long days as needed

Salary

$80k-$100k annual, depending on experience
