Job description

A UHNW couple is seeking an experienced and refined Domestic Couple to join their private household, primarily based in St. Moritz, Switzerland, with regular travel to Saint-Tropez (France) and occasional international travel (including Europe and South Africa).

The principals are a well-established couple with grown-up children who do not reside at the property. The household is fully staffed and operates to a high standard, including a long-standing private chef (over 20 years) who is now departing.

The family is transitioning to a domestic couple structure and is seeking candidates where at least one is a confident cook, ideally both. The culinary focus is on generous, well-balanced, and satisfying meals, with the ability to produce elegant and well-presented dishes for guests and special occasions.

This is a long-term position, ideally suited to candidates seeking stability and a role for many years within a respectful and well-organised household.

Responsibilities

Culinary Duties (Primary Focus)

  • Preparation of daily lunch and dinner for the principals (typically 2 people).
  • Cooking of proper, satisfying meals (not overly restrictive or “fine dining” on a daily basis).
  • Ability to adapt between: Comfortable, well-portioned everyday meals and refined, wellpresented dishes for guests and events.
  • Occasional cooking for dinner parties and visiting guests.
  • Menu planning based on preferences and seasonal produce.
  • Sourcing and purchasing ingredients.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised kitchen.

Household & Property Duties

  • General household management and upkeep of the property.
  • Liaising with household staff (including butler).
  • Overseeing deliveries, contractors, and suppliers as required.
  • Ensuring the property is maintained to a high standard at all times.
  • Supporting smooth day-to-day running of the household.

Travel & Seasonal Responsibilities

  • Accompanying the principals to Saint-Tropez and occasionally other international destinations.
  • Providing full service when the principals are in residence (approx. 7–8 months per year).
  • During periods when the principals are away (approx. 4–5 months per year):
    • Maintaining the property
    • Reduced working hours
    • No cooking required

Requirements

  • Proven experience in private households as a private chef and/or domestic couple.
  • At least one strong chef-level profile required (both cooking is highly preferred).
  • Experience in restaurant kitchens is an advantage.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, healthy, well-presented cuisine.
  • Experience working in formal, fully staffed households.
  • Strong service mindset, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Polite, well-presented, and accustomed to UHNW environments.
  • Flexible and adaptable to travel and changing schedules.
  • Fluent English required.
  • Additional languages (German, French, Italian) are a plus.
  • Driving licence required (ideally both candidates).

Work conditions

Working Schedule

  •  When principals are in residence:
    • Coverage required across 7 days per week (shared between the couple)
    • Each candidate works approximately 5 days per week
    • Service focused on lunch (~1pm) and dinner (~7:30–8pm)
  • When principals are not in residence:
    • Reduced schedule
    • Focus on property maintenance
    • Increased flexibility and time off

Accommodation & Benefits

  • Separate private house provided near the main residence
  • All utilities included
  • Car provided for work purposes
  • Excellent working conditions within a respectful long-term household
  • Potential training support (including from the family’s chef in London if required)
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Flexible for the right candidates
  • Priority is on finding the right long-term fit

Salary

Up to CHF 140,000 gross per year (for the couple), depending on: culinary ability; experience; whether both candidates cook
