Job description
For our client's secondary residence located near Chalon-sur-Saône (71), we are looking for a Domestic Couple responsible for interior and exterior upkeep as well as public visits during a defined period.
This is a listed historic monument site, open to the public every year for 45 days between June and September.
The position is to be filled in September, as a permanent contract (CDI) combining a full-time role (35 hours/week) and a part-time role (approximately 15-20 hours/week).
Independent staff accommodation is provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform housekeeping duties (interior upkeep of the main house and outbuildings)
- Prepare bedrooms ahead of the employer's visits
- Manage laundry (washing, ironing, storage)
- Manage stock of cleaning products
- Grocery shopping and other supply runs as needed
- Prepare meals during the employer's stays
- Table setting and table service
- Maintain the courtyards and driveways of the Château
- Maintain the vegetable garden and orchard
- Maintain the grounds (pruning, cutting, planting, watering…)
- Collect leaves and dead wood, and carry out weeding
- Maintain the swimming pool (filters, pump, pH)
- Manage green waste and household waste
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and technical installations (boiler, etc.)
- Ensure the Château is properly "winterised" (water shut-off) from late November to March, and reinstated in spring
- Handyman work and minor repairs
- Maintain equipment (mower, brushcutter, tractor, flail mower, blower…) and tools
- Chauffeur on request
- Vehicle maintenance (washing, service record tracking…)
- Receive parcels and deliveries
- Monitor and safeguard the site
- Welcome external contractors (workers, tradespeople…) and follow up on their work
- Reporting to the employer
- Welcome and guide the public (excluding weekends)
- Liaise with the remote monitoring/security company
- Manage alarm systems
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar professional setting
- Versatile, dynamic, autonomous, and organised individuals
- Strong sense of responsibility and service
- Nature-loving individuals
- Ability to drive agricultural machinery (tractor)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Flexibility required
- Guaranteed discretion and confidentiality towards the employer
- French speaking, English a plus
- Driving license required for both members of the couple
