Job description
An exceptional, highly flexible, and proactive Chef / Butler is required for a luxury brand-new chalet in Verbier, Switzerland, with international travel to locations such as Spain (Ibiza) and the Caribbean.
The principal spends 3 to 4 months a year in Verbier and travels frequently. The role combines private chef duties, table service, guest hospitality, grocery management, and light household oversight/ handyman support in Verbier (working alongside external cleaning services and contractors).
The atmosphere is warm, positive, and informal, though standard formal service skills are occasionally required. Candidates with a private yacht background (Sole Chef / Steward(ess) or Yacht Chef) are strongly preferred due to the dual nature of high-end cooking, guest hospitality, and adaptiveness.
Responsibilities
- Culinary & Meal Preparation: Prepare daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for the
principal and his guests. Cook high-quality, nutritious, protein-rich, and vegetable-focused
"sporty" meals. - Entertaining & Event Support: Cater for groups ranging from 3 up to 12 guests. Manage
spontaneous, last-minute informal dinner parties (often with just half a day's notice) and
barbecues with ease. - Butler & Guest Service: Provide warm, gracious table service (mostly informal, with
formal service capabilities when required), table setup, guest greeting, and overall
hospitality management. - Kitchen Management & Provisioning: Stock the kitchen, execute grocery shopping,
manage food inventory, and ensure pristine kitchen hygiene. - International Travel: Travel with the principal to key international locations (e.g., Ibiza,
the Caribbean) for several weeks at a time during peak travel seasons. - Chalet Oversight & Vendor Liaison: Act as the main point of contact in Verbier to
coordinate external cleaning services, oversee property maintenance contractors, order
supplies, and handle minor hands-on maintenance tasks around the house.
Requirements
- Work Authorization: EU/EFTA passport or valid Swiss work permit with full legal
entitlement to work in Switzerland and travel internationally without restriction. - Experience: Proven experience as a Private Chef / Butler in high-end private estates or
luxury superyachts (Yachting background strongly preferred). - Languages: Fluent English required; conversational French is a strong advantage for
coordinating local Swiss contractors and reservations. - Culinary Expertise: Versatile culinary skills with a focus on fresh, healthy, high-protein,
and clean lifestyle cuisine. - Personality: High energy, discreet, adaptable, solution-oriented, and comfortable with
last-minute schedule changes. - Vetting & Driving: Valid driver's license, clean driving record, clean criminal
background check, and excellent references.
Work conditions
- Schedule: Full-time (40–50 hours/week standard). Highly flexible during residence periods and
travel, balanced by generous time off in lieu during quiet periods. - Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
- Accommodation: Independent, fully paid private flat rented by the principal near the chalet.
- Work car provided for local duties.
