Job description
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Caretaker/Gardener (M/F) for their family’s second home in the heart of the Brie region (77), less than an hour from Paris. The role covers maintaining the grounds, keeping all equipment in good working order, and overseeing the security of the property.
Position available from April 2027. Permanent contract (CDI), 35 hours per week. Independent staff accommodation is provided.
Responsibilities
- Grounds maintenance (mowing, pruning, trimming, weeding, leaf clearing, watering, raking, etc.)
- Vegetable garden upkeep (sowing, planting, harvesting, watering, winter preparation)
- Upkeep of the pathways, the area around the Mill, and potted flowers
- Pruning and cutting fruit trees
- Maintenance of the woodland and riverbanks (making areas safe, cutting wood, etc.)
- Henhouse upkeep (feeding, interior cleaning)
- Ensuring the wellbeing of the hens and cat, arranging veterinary care if needed
- Overseeing the maintenance of equipment (septic tank, heating, water softener, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, etc.) and ensuring all tools and machinery work properly
- Upkeep and monitoring of the buildings (pipework, gutters)
- Minor DIY and repairs
- Preparing firewood (cutting and storage)
- Maintenance of the service vehicle (keeping the service log up to date, servicing, etc.)
- Receiving parcels and deliveries
- Welcoming external contractors and following up on their work
- Ensuring the security of the estate
- Reporting any equipment faults to the owner
- Regular reporting to the owner
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar professional setting
- Trade or craft training is a plus
- Dynamic, versatile, autonomous, and organised
- Able to take initiative
- Strong DIY skills
- Comfortable with animals (hens, cats, etc.)
- Complete discretion and confidentiality towards the employer
- French speaker
- Driving licence required
