Job description

An exceptional, highly flexible, and proactive Butler / House Manager who can cook family-style meals is required for a brand-new luxury chalet in Verbier, Switzerland, with occasional international travel to locations such as London, Spain (Ibiza), and the Caribbean.

The principal spends 3 to 4 months a year in Verbier and travels frequently. This role prioritizes strong Butler, Front of House, guest hospitality, and chalet oversight skills, complemented by the ability to prepare fresh, high-quality, family-style meals.

The atmosphere is warm, positive, and informal, though standard formal service skills are occasionally required. Candidates with a luxury superyacht background (e.g., Sole Steward(ess) / Butler or Yacht Service Professional) are strongly preferred due to their versatility in high-end service, housekeeping oversight, and guest care.

Responsibilities

  • Butler & Guest Service: Provide warm, gracious, and attentive table service (mostly informal, with formal service capabilities when required), table setups, guest greetings, drink service, and overall hospitality management.
  • Chalet Management & Vendor Liaison: Act as the main point of contact in Verbier to coordinate external cleaning services, oversee property maintenance contractors, order household supplies, and handle minor hands-on maintenance tasks around the house.
  • Family Cooking & Meal Preparation: Prepare fresh, high-quality, nutritious, and protein-rich daily family-style meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) for the principal and his guests.
  • Entertaining & Event Support: Manage Front of House operations and service for groups ranging from 3 up to 12 guests, including spontaneous, informal dinner parties and barbecues with ease.
  • Provisioning & Inventory: Stock the kitchen and chalet, execute grocery shopping, manage inventory, and maintain pristine presentation and hygiene throughout the living and dining areas.
  • International Travel: Travel with the principal to key international locations including London, Ibiza, and the Caribbean for several weeks at a time during peak travel seasons.

Requirements

  • Work Authorization: EU/EFTA passport or valid Swiss work permit with full legal entitlement to work in Switzerland and travel internationally without restriction.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Professional Butler, House Manager, or High-End Service Specialist in luxury private estates or superyachts (Yachting background strongly preferred).
  • Languages: Fluent English required; conversational French is a strong advantage for coordinating local Swiss contractors and reservations.
  • Cooking Capabilities: Confident ability to cook fresh, healthy, high-protein, and clean family-style meals without requiring fine-dining Michelin-level chef credentials.
  • Personality: High energy, discreet, adaptable, solution-oriented, and comfortable with last-minute schedule changes.
  • Vetting & Driving: Valid driver's license, clean driving record, clean criminal background check, and excellent references.

Work conditions

  • Location: Verbier, Valais, Switzerland (with international travel to London, Spain, and the Caribbean)
  • Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Schedule: Full-time (40–50 hours/week standard). Highly flexible during residence periods and travel, balanced by generous time off in lieu during quiet periods.
  • Accommodation: Independent, fully paid private flat rented by the principal near
    the chalet.
  • Benefits: Work car provided for local duties.
  • Start Date: Late October / Early November 2026

Salary

CHF 85,000 – CHF 105,000 gross per year (Swiss fixed monthly salary; additional hours during peak periods compensated with Time Off in Lieu)
