Job description

A family residing in the 16th arrondissement of Paris is looking for an energetic, educational, and cheerful Nanny (M/F) to accompany their 9-year-old boy in his daily life, starting from the September 2026 school year.

The safety and well-being of the child are the absolute, non-negotiable priority of this position. This is the foundation of the trust relationship the family wishes to build with the nanny.

The boy will be entering CM1 (Year 5) at a school located 3 minutes' walk from home. He is a lively, curious, and mature child who enjoys all the games typical of his age, particularly Pokémon, football, and Lego. He loves moving around, playing, and spending time with his friends.

A dwarf rabbit is part of the family. Permanent contract (CDI) – Approximately 20 hours/week (hours to be adjusted according to the school schedule) Start date: early September 2026

Responsibilities

Daily Care

  • Constantly ensure the child's physical and emotional safety in all circumstances, indoors and outdoors — absolute priority
  • Pick up the child from school (Monday/Friday 4–7 PM / Tuesday/Thursday 5–7 PM / Wednesday 9 AM–7 PM)
  • Accompany the child to extracurricular activities: tennis, chess, and piano lessons (piano taught at home)
  • Maintain smooth daily communication with the parents about how the day went
  • Be able to get on the child's level and play with him as a genuine play partner — immersing with enthusiasm in his favourite interests to build an authentic bond
  • Flexibility and responsiveness expected — particularly in case of emergency or illness. The nanny must be able to adapt occasionally to unexpected family situations

Homework & Learning

  • Help with homework at the end of the day with patience and kindness — finding the right approach to motivate the child
  • Follow up on revision in a structured and positive way
  • Encourage independence and self-confidence

Wednesdays — A Full and Lively Day

  • Plan a rich, joyful, and varied day: creative, sporting, and cultural activities (museums, exhibitions, cinema…)
  • Organise social moments with school friends (including birthday parties)
  • Be proactive, reach out to other parents to encourage friendships between children
  • Travel by taxi (covered by the family) — Deliveroo available for Wednesday meals (covered by the family)

Organisation & Logistics

  • Prepare the next day's clothes, check the school bag and sports bag
  • Prepare the snack box
  • Monitor and manage child-related supplies: toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, school supplies…
  • Occasionally go shopping with the child as needed (bank card with a budget set by the parents — expenses reviewed weekly)
  • Accompany the child to the doctor or pharmacy when necessary
  • Good everyday common sense: vacuuming after snack time, tidying the child's room while teaching him to tidy up after himself

No housekeeping or family meal preparation — a housekeeper handles those tasks. The nanny is expected to use good judgement within her scope of responsibility related to the child.

Requirements

First and foremost, the safety and well-being of the child are the absolute priority of this position — this is non-negotiable. Within this safe and structured framework, the family is looking for a cheerful, positive, smiling personality full of ideas. A mature and responsible nanny who can set clear boundaries while brightening the child's everyday life. Not a rigid or austere carer — but certainly not an older sister figure either.

  • Proven experience as a nanny with school-age children
  • Safety: constant vigilance, anticipation of risks, and immediate reflexes in emergency situations
  • Native French essential — English strongly valued (the child has always had bilingual French/English nannies)
  • Young and dynamic profile, able to commit long-term and accompany the child over several years
  • Natural teaching ability and capacity to enrich the child's education on a daily basis
  • Stability and longevity essential — the family does not want someone passing through. A long-term commitment is expected and valued
  • Cheerful, proactive, curious, and resourceful personality
  • Maturity, sense of responsibility, and strong autonomy
  • Natural pedagogy and understanding of the rhythm of a 9-year-old child
  • Familiarity with the interests of children this age: Pokémon, football, Lego…
  • Genuine ability to get down to the child's level — playing with him, like him, immersing in his favourite worlds with sincere and natural enthusiasm
  • Ability to set a kind and structured framework
  • Strong communication skills with parents — regular updates
  • Verifiable references required
  • Comfortable around animals (dwarf rabbit)

Work conditions

  • Contract: Permanent (CDI)
  • Working hours: 20 hours per week (to be adjusted at the start of the school year)
    • Monday / Friday: 4–7 PM
    • Tuesday / Thursday: 5–7 PM
    • Wednesday: 9 AM–7 PM
  • Location: Paris 16th arrondissement
  • Start date: September 2026
  • Probationary period: 1 month
  • School holidays: A dedicated nanny covers all holiday periods — this role does not require availability during school breaks. Occasional flexibility may be appreciated depending on circumstances.
