Full-Time House Manager/Butler job (M/F) in Hong Kong & Tokyo, Japan
Job description
An international high-net-worth family is seeking an experienced, polished, and discreet Mandarin-speaking House Manager / Butler to oversee the smooth running of their residences in Hong Kong and Japan.
This is a live-in position requiring flexibility, strong leadership, and a service-oriented mindset. The successful candidate will ensure the highest standards of household management, staff coordination, and hospitality across multiple homes, with frequent international travel.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate household staff, including maids, drivers, tutors, and security personnel.
- Oversee daily household operations, staff schedules, and logistics.
- Liaise with chefs to plan family meals and special occasions.
- Ensure the wellbeing and comfort of family members, including managing health-related appointments and dietary preferences.
- Deliver and oversee five-star service standards for guests — table service, entertainment, gifting, and travel support.
- Manage property maintenance, vendors, and service providers across locations.
- Handle administrative duties, including budgets, expenses, invoices, and household accounts.
- Maintain detailed household manuals, inventories, and SOPs.
- Lead staff performance reviews, hiring, and scheduling processes.
- Travel ahead of the family to prepare residences and coordinate arrivals.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in UHNW or VIP households in a House Manager or Butler role.
- Background in luxury hospitality or formal butler training is highly desirable.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (both essential).
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Professional, discreet, and highly presentable, with a strong sense of service.
- Skilled at managing multicultural teams across multiple properties.
- Passport from Hong Kong, Singapore, or Taiwan preferred for ease of travel.
- Open to applications from both male and female candidates.
Work conditions
- Schedule: 6 days per week, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and travel.
- Base Locations: Hong Kong and Japan (live-in accommodation provided).
