House Manager & Assistant Job in Chelsea, New York City - Live-Out
Job description
We are seeking a reliable, proactive House Manager/Housekeeper to maintain our 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment and home office in Chelsea. This is a child-free household that requires a high standard of daily cleanliness and proactive organization.
A major portion of this role is dedicated to the meticulous upkeep of the home and laundry, alongside general logistics and care for the resident cat, Tikka. We are looking for a long-term professional who takes pride in a spotless home and can work independently to keep household running smoothly.
Responsibilities
1. Cleaning & Daily Upkeep
• Daily Maintenance: Keep the apartment in pristine condition. This includes cleaning bathrooms and the kitchen daily, dusting all surfaces, and maintaining the floors (vacuuming and mopping).
• General Organization: Managing "daily clutter," watering household plants, and ensuring the overall home is always tidy and aesthetically pleasing.
• Note: While a separate service may handle heavy deep-cleaning projects, this role is responsible for the thorough daily shape of the home.
2. Full Laundry & Garment Care
• Comprehensive Laundry: Manage the full cycle of personal laundry, including washing and drying.
• Ironing & Storage: Provide high-quality ironing for clothing and ensure all items are properly hung or folded and put away in closets.
3. Cat Care (Tikka)
• Sanitation: Keeping her litter tray clean throughout the day.
• Companionship: Spending quality time playing with or brushing her.
• Note: The family handles morning feedings, so the focus here is on maintenance and engagement.
4. Groceries & Food Prep
• Stocking: Keeping the fridge and pantry stocked with fresh items and sourcing specific ingredients as needed.
• Light Meal Prep: Basic food preparation, such as washing/chopping ingredients or assembling simple, healthy meals for the week.
5. Errands & Logistics
• Delivery Management: Being present in the apartment to receive deliveries or supervise service providers.
Off-site Errands: Sorting out dry cleaning (drop-off/pick-up) and handling occasional returns or post office runs.
Requirements
• Agency-Based Employment: Strict Requirement: Candidates must be represented by an agency that will invoice the family directly. We do not pay employees directly or via cash/check.
• Expertise: Proven experience in high-end residential cleaning and professional garment care/ironing.
• Animal Lover: Must be genuinely comfortable with and kind to cats.
• Dependability: Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to work independently without a "to-do" list every morning.
Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Work conditions
Schedule: Full time schedule, Monday-Friday (40 hours a week), live-out.
Salary: $45-$55/hour, depending on experience paid by agency on weekly payroll.
