Job description
We are seeking an exceptional Private Nurse / Companion Caregiver to provide dedicated, 24/7 live-in support to an 84-year-old female with early-stage memory decline, alongside a history of anxiety and psychosis; while the principal remains largely independent in her daily routine.
This role requires a constant, reassuring presence focused on monitoring her wellbeing, managing episodes of anxiety or panic with calm professionalism, and ensuring her overall safety, stability, and comfort at all times.
The successful candidate demonstrating a high level of discretion, emotional intelligence, and clinical awareness, as well as the ability to intuitively balance attentive care with respect for independence, creating a calm, structured, and supportive environment suited to a private household with an international lifestyle.
Responsibilities
- Regularly monitor and record blood pressure and vital signs.
- Observe for any changes in physical, cognitive, or emotional condition.
- Ensure medication routines are followed correctly (if applicable).
- Report concerns promptly to the family or relevant medical professionals.
- Provide calm, reassuring support during panic attacks or anxiety episodes.
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage moments of distress or confusion.
- Maintain a stable, structured, and low-stress environment.
- Offer emotional reassurance and companionship throughout the day.
- Act as a supportive companion, engaging in conversation and light activities.
- Ensure the patient feels safe, comfortable, and not isolated.
- Supervise general wellbeing without being intrusive, respecting her independence.
- Adapt approach based on her personality (good sense of humour, but can be challenging).
- Provide minimal assistance with daily routines if and when needed.
- Encourage independence while being present for support.
- Help maintain a consistent daily structure.
- Accompany the patient on international travel.
- Ensure continuity of care and routine while traveling.
- Manage health monitoring and provide reassurance in new environments.
Requirements
- Qualified Nurse or experienced Caregiver with elderly care background.
- Proven experience supporting patients with:
- Anxiety / panic attacks
- Dementia or memory-related conditions
- Psychiatric history (preferred)
- Strong understanding of vital signs monitoring (especially blood pressure)
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a similar private or home-care setting.
- Experience in companion-style roles (low dependency patients) is highly desirable.
- Previous live-in or travel roles is a strong advantage.
- European Union passport (ESSENTIAL)
- Willingness to work live-in, 6 days per week
- Flexible for frequent international travel
Work conditions
- Accomodation: Live in, private en-suite bedroom provided.
- Work Schedule: 6 days of work per week with 1 day off.
