Property Caretaker job (M/F) near Carcassonne, France
Job description
Morgan & Mallet International is looking for a Property Caretaker for a beautiful private estate near Carcassonne, comprising a main house and several outbuildings. Position available from May–June 2025.
The Property
A characterful residence in the South of France, set among gardens and outbuildings that require careful, attentive upkeep. The owners visit periodically and expect the property to be ready to welcome them at any time.
Responsibilities
- You are the on-site presence and first point of contact for the property, every single day.
- Security & Surveillance — You maintain a permanent presence and ensure the safety of the estate in the owners' absence.
- General Maintenance — You oversee the smooth running of the main house and outbuildings: minor repairs, technical upkeep, and coordinating with outside contractors when needed.
- Outdoor Spaces — Gardening, watering, and maintaining courtyards, terraces, and access areas. You keep the grounds in perfect condition year-round.
- Stay Preparation — Before each arrival, you prepare the house from top to bottom: cleanliness, order, equipment checks. Nothing is left to chance.
- Availability — You are reachable and available for occasional requests from the owners.
Requirements
- Proven experience in property caretaking or estate maintenance
- Practical skills in DIY, general upkeep, and gardening
- Someone reliable and discreet, who takes initiative without being asked
- A driving licence (recommended)
- Comfortable with basic communication tools (phone, WhatsApp)
- Available for the long term, with full-time on-site residence
