Job description

The Pet / Home Assistant is responsible for supporting day-to-day household operations while providing attentive and compassionate care for pets, particularly dogs.

This role blends hands-on pet care with light household management, including coordinating services, assisting with errands, and maintaining an organized and comfortable home environment.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and has a genuine love for animals, with the flexibility to adjust their schedule based on household needs, special events, or travel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for pets, including walking, feeding, grooming, and administering medication if needed.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of pets always, especially during the owner’s absence.
  • Assist with light household duties, including tidying, organizing, and coordinating with cleaning service.
  • Support basic meal preparation and kitchen upkeep as needed.
  • Run local errands such as grocery shopping, picking up supplies, and handling deliveries.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the home.
  • Assist with planning and support for special events, travel, or extended stays, including pet care during vacations.
  • Work collaboratively with any additional household staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role such as Pet Care Assistant, Household Assistant, or House Manager preferred.
  • Strong passion for and experience caring for pets, especially dogs, including those with special needs.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Flexible schedule, with availability for extended hours, overnight stays, or travel if needed.
  • Trustworthy, discreet, and able to handle private household matters with professionalism.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

Work conditions

  • Location: Philadelphia, PA
  • Duration: Full time, Permanent
  • Status: Can be a live -in or live-out situation for the right candidate

Salary

$60k-$90k, depending on experience
