Job description

An active and busy family is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Butler/House Manager to replace their long-time butler, who has retired after 16 years.

This prestigious position requires an individual with exceptional expertise in high-end formal service and managing a sophisticated household with a keen focus on meticulous detail.

Responsibilities

  • High-End Formal Service: Deliver impeccable service for formal dining occasions, including setting tables, arranging place settings, and serving gourmet food and beverages. Maintain the highest standards of elegance and sophistication.
  • Event Planning and Execution: Plan and execute regular formal dinner parties for 4-10 guests and manage larger events with exceptional attention to detail to ensure memorable experiences.
  • Household Management: Oversee the care and maintenance of artwork, furnishings, China, linens, and other valuables. Ensure meticulous attention to detail in turn-down and turn-up service and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and upkeep throughout the household.
  • Staff Management: Hire, train, and oversee household staff, manage their schedules, and ensure smooth daily operations. Demonstrate strong leadership by setting a positive example and fostering a rewarding and collaborative work environment.
  • Vendor Relations and Procurement: Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure top-quality goods and services at optimal prices. Manage inventory to meet household needs effectively.
  • Guest Services: Welcome guests, introduce them to the home’s amenities, and ensure a tailored experience throughout their stay.
  • Pet Care: Feeding, walking and scheduling Grooming Appointments. Responsible for caring for a small dog while the family is traveling.
  • Wardrobe Management: Oversee wardrobe care, including steaming, packing, and organizing clothing.
  • Floral Arrangements: Create and manage elegant floral arrangements to enhance the aesthetic appeal of dining and home environments.
  • Transportation and Scheduling: Collaborate with the Estate Manager, Family Assistant, Yacht Captains, and Pilots to ensure seamless travel arrangements for the principal. Oversee the scheduling of drivers and provide transportation for the principal as required.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage household expenses, staff expenditures, and invoice accuracy. Collaborate with the Family Office on all financial matters.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a luxury estate household.
  • Demonstrate skills in high-end formal service, household management, event planning, and guest relations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, with a proven track record of handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong decision-making skills aligned with the principals' preferences and needs.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with a focus on staff mentoring and development.
  • Extensive knowledge of formal service, floral arrangements, and meticulous wardrobe management.
  • Proficiency with relevant software and technology.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including occasional cleaning, lifting, and extended periods of standing.
  • Valid driver license and clean driving record.

Work conditions

  • Primary Location: Jupiter Island, FL. (Live Out)
  • Secondary Location: Brielle, NJ. Live In - Private Cottage Onsite.
  • Family also has a home in Okeechobee, FL – Pine Creek ranch. May be needed there.
  • Work Week: Wednesday to Sunday, with flexibility required for events and holidays.
  • Hours: typically, 50 hours a week.

Salary

Competitive salary based on experience ($90k-$110k)
