Job description
A warm, globally-minded couple working remotely on East Coast hours is seeking an experienced French-speaking Nanny to join their household. They have one daughter, currently 14 months old, and are expecting a second baby at the end of January. The family divides their time between their estate in the Oregon woods, Florida, and Mexico, and are planning a permanent move to Mexico in the future.
The family’s Oregon residence is situated in a mountainous, forested landscape, and outdoor activity is central to their lifestyle. The nanny will routinely accompany the father and child on regular two-mile hikes. The position therefore requires a candidate who is physically capable, comfortable on uneven terrain, and able to participate consistently in moderate outdoor activity. The family is active and values a nanny who enjoys being part of that rhythm.
The ideal candidate will be fluent in French and English, engaging, and nurturing, with strong experience caring for infants and toddlers. The family values a caregiver who is developmentally focused, enjoys outdoor play and travel, and can provide a calm, structured, and enriching environment for their children.
This is a long-term role with the opportunity to grow alongside the family. The position requires flexibility for travel and comfort working within a private household setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care for a one-year-old and newborn (expected January).
- Create and maintain a safe, stimulating, and loving environment.
- Support early learning through French language immersion, songs, books, and play.
- Manage children’s daily routines, including meals, naps, and playtime.
- Prepare simple, nutritious meals and snacks for the children.
- Assist with child-related organization and light housekeeping (tidying play areas, laundry, bottles, etc.).
- Travel with the family between homes in Oregon, Florida, and Mexico as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents, maintaining professionalism and discretion.
Requirements
- Fluency in French required; English proficiency strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of professional nanny experience, including experience with infants and toddlers.
- Knowledge of child development milestones and age-appropriate activities.
- Warm, patient, and adaptable personality.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Valid passport required.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. (family has an immigration attorney and may assist with visa sponsorship for the right international candidate).
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
Work conditions
- Location: Yachats, Oregon (primary residence), with travel to Florida and Mexico
- Schedule: Four 9-hour shifts per week, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (EST hours), with approximately 3 hours requested on the weekend.
- Trial period: 2 weeks
- Housing: Private tiny home available for live-in accommodation if desired.
- Travel: Significant long-term travel opportunities. While the family’s primary residence is in a remote, wooded region of Oregon, they spend extended periods in Florida and Mexico, where quality housing is always provided.
