How to be sure that you are making a good impression on a recruitment team? Here are several tips to make your presentation successful and winning.
Tell us who you are
- First of all, you should state your full name, contact details and personal data (date of birth, marital status, kids, nationality). There is absolutely no need in mentioning your family history, names and professions of other family members, friends, etc.
- Second of all, tell a bit about yourself, your personality, your character, and professional skills and strengths. Consider using only those characteristics which are relevant to the position you are applying for. For example, if you are applying for a position of a housekeeper it is essential to state whether you can iron to a high standard, take care of luxury clothes, and clean different kinds of surfaces and no use in stating your computer skills.
Tell us what you are looking for
- Don’t forget to state the desired position. Sometimes candidates might have experience in so many different spheres that it is not always obvious for what position they wish to apply.
Be specific and precise regarding your experience
- Your CV should not contain details about everything you have ever done. We are interested only in the experience which is relevant to the desired position. Start with the most recent positions. Try not to overload your CV/Resume with unnecessary facts about your working experience. In a nutshell explain your major duties and responsibilities, the rest of the details may be provided during an interview.
For instance, if you are applying for a nanny position avoid mentioning your experience in offices and service industries. Private families, schools and kindergartens would be your relevant places of work.
- Don’t forget about the dates. To avoid misunderstanding you should be very precise with dates of work. As we accept only candidates who have a minimum of 3 years’ experience, we have to see clearly your experience.
- Remember that you are applying for a position in a private family. That is why your previous experiences for private families of high profile individuals are of the primary importance. Sometimes candidates are afraid of mentioning some of their employers. They believe that it is a top-secret information that cannot be spread and as a result, they lose an opportunity of becoming prospect candidates because of the lack of experience. Indeed, this kind of information is confidential and we completely agree with that. However, in order to be successful and get the desired job you should not diminish your experience because of that. This is what you can do - do not mention any names or addresses. You can state a “Private Family” or “HNW individual” as your employer and at least mention the country where you performed the duties. This would be enough for us to understand that you are qualified and experienced.
- Professional experience does not involve tasks and duties inside your own family. However good mother or housewife you are for your own family, no matter how professionally you drive your own car, or how deliciously you cook for your friends and relatives - it is not a professional experience and there is absolutely no need in mentioning it in your CV/Resume. It will not boost your chances of getting the job, anyway.
Do you have any special education or training – do not forget to mention it!
- Education in your CV/Resume the same as experience should be relevant. Of course, you can mention that you pursued higher education, but your high school diplomas are of no use. Definitely, it is the most essential to provide all the information about some special trainings and certifications which prove your qualification in the profession you are applying for.
- Also consider mentioning some other skills that you have, such as foreign languages, driving license, or any other which you find useful and relevant.
Last but not least – a photo
It is very important to choose the right photo for your CV. Photo helps to form an idea about you even before the interview. Your choice of photo can significantly influence the impression of your CV in different ways – either positive or negative.

Tips for a good photo
- Show your face. Look straight at the camera and smile.
- Do not wear sunglasses, hats or other big accessories. We appreciate your style but it is not what really matters.
- Find a neutral background – a restaurant or garden are not the best places for a photo-shoot.
- Photo taken by smartphone can be good as long as it is not ‘selfie’.
- Choose smart clothes to dress. Avoid too revealing as well as too disguise clothing (sundresses, sleeveless shirts, skiwear, and swimsuits).
- Avoid photos with other people or pets – you are the one that matters.
