House Manager/Cook Job Offer and Vacancy
A family residing in the Natal Midlands, Durban, South Africa, require the appointment of a Professional Butler/House Manager/Cook to manage the household requirements for full housekeeping of the entire home, stock and supply operation, laundry & ironing requirements, supervise the upkeep of the entire property and it's services.
As sole representative of the household services, the Butler will be required to step into any position in the home during.
A very competitive remuneration package will be offered to the candidate with the highest qualifications and level of experience.
The role

Main duties and responsibilities
- Oversight and maintenance of the property and its contents, including cleanliness and organization.
- Arranging and caring for furnishings and art work.
- Responsible for the smooth operating of the household.
- Coordinating shopping errands, personal shopping and household purchases.
- General facility management, ensuring the property is always in full working order.
- Laundry and wardrobe management.
- Overseeing and recording services of all contractors, third party suppliers and vendors at the property.
- Overseeing correct layout, change-over and upkeep of the table service for breakfast, lunch and evening meals.
- Managing and supervising the creation and upkeep of floral displays throughout the home.
- Understanding, promoting and defending household protocols among staff and guests.
- Inviting and welcoming guests, with an aptitude for guest relations.
- Preparation of meals of a high standard as and when required.
- Complete and total house schedule management.
- Management of household staff compliment, in terms of scheduling, leave, appointment and duties.
- Financial and completed weekly reconciliation of expenses.
- Prepared to live in.
- Managing a maintenance schedule and report on work completed.
- Ad hoc duties as and when required for operations and personal needs.
Key requirements and desirable attributes
- 5+ years’ experience in high end estate, hospitality or luxury property management.
- Exceptional level of discretion and understanding of confidentiality.
- Ability to use initiative and respond proactively to changing situations and ad hoc requests.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Confident in delegating and organizing staff.
- Fluent command of English in verbal and written communication.
- Honest and trustworthy individual with a pro-active mind set.
- Detail orientated with the ability to manage the entire smooth running of the home.
- Extensive experience in similar position within a private residence with contactable references.
- High level of experience in Valet, Butler, House Manager and Service positions.
- Flexible and able to accommodate families schedule including public holidays and weekends.
- Driver’s license.
- Cooking and catering abilities are essential
- Formal butler training desirable.

Requirements
- 3 years' experience working as a Butler/Household Manager in a private residence
- Certificate Qualification for Household Manager, Butler or Cook
- Fluent English + additional African language
- Additional housekeeping / cooking / laundry skills will be advantageous
- Driving License

Extra information
- Schedule is flexible in accordance to the family needs - max 45 hour week.
- Availability required on all Weekends and Public Holidays
- Salary based on experience and qualifications for the right candidate.
