When you work as a laundress, you may find yourself working in a home, hospital, hotel or care home. You’ll need to provide clean bedclothes and towels for people who stay there every day. Most of your day will be spent on your feet, so it’s important to be prepared to be standing or walking for most of the day.
As a laundress or wardrobe manager, you will be operating washing machines and tumble dryers and dry items like clothes, towels, bed lined, uniforms and sportswear. You may also work in the laundry department of organizations like hotels, universities and hospitals – even shops that provide specialist laundry services.
A laundress job is demanding and unusual. Morgan & Mallet International works with families who are looking to hire a laundress to complete their team.
Because of the delicate and fine clothing pieces and the care for designer clothing, it is necessary to have 3 to 5 years of experience in private families and not in hotels, because the type of fabrics and clothing being handled is not the same.
