A friendly family relocating to Monaco is seeking a Private Chef / Family Cook to prepare fresh, healthy meals for their household.
The family consists of two adults and two young boys (aged 4 and 2), supported by a full-time nanny and head housekeeper. The household atmosphere is relaxed and informal, and the family is looking for a chef who is adaptable, down-to-earth, and genuinely enjoys cooking wholesome food for families and children.
This is not a fine-dining or Michelin-level position. The family prefers a confident cook or private chef who enjoys preparing fresh, seasonal meals in a simple and approachable style.
• Preparing daily lunch and dinner for the family
• Cooking simple and nutritious meals for the children
• Preparing lunch for household staff (typically the nanny and housekeeper)
• Preparing healthy snacks for the family and children
• Occasionally preparing simple breakfast items in advance for the following morning
• Grocery shopping and sourcing fresh, organic, seasonal ingredients
• Menu planning in line with the family’s preferences
• Cooking a variety of cuisines and being open to experimenting with different dishes
• Preparing dishes that may occasionally be gluten-free, lactose-free, or sugar-free if required
• Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
• Managing food storage, cleaning the fridge and pantry, and monitoring kitchen supplies
• Occasionally assisting with informal entertaining or small dinner gatherings
The family prefers a buffet-style presentation rather than formal plated dining, with plated meals typically prepared only for the children.
• Experience working as a private chef, family cook, or in a similar household role
• Experience cooking for young children
• Strong knowledge of fresh, healthy, and seasonal cooking
• Ability to prepare a variety of international cuisines
• Flexible and adaptable attitude
• Comfortable working in a family environment with children and staff
• Professional, organised, and reliable
• English required
• Portuguese or Spanish would be a strong advantage
• Down-to-earth personality and team-oriented approach
The family values someone who is approachable, flexible, and collaborative, and who enjoys cooking wholesome meals rather than creating formal restaurant-style dining.
Schedule
Typically Monday to Friday.
The chef may either:
• Prepare dinner in advance and leave, or
• Stay until dinner is served (usually around 6:00 PM).
Some flexibility may occasionally be required for small gatherings or dinner parties.
Contract Structure
Because the family is relocating to Monaco, the role will begin on a freelance / self-employed basis from April 2026, until the family completes their residency and employer registration.
From approximately July 2026, the role will transition to a full-time permanent employment contract.
Salary
Up to €4,500 net per month
