Job description
Family is looking for an experienced Gardener to look after the garden in their lovely property in Menerbes, Provence, perfom light handyman and chauffeur duties when necessary and ensure onsite security.
The garden is 2.5 hectars and it has 2 flower beds, large and new trees (oak trees, etc.), a sculpture garden, a natural swimming pool, a stream, and an own well. The right candidate must have genuine interest in working in the garden and caring for plants, appreciate beauty, enjoy quiet and peaceful life in the countryside and respect the privacy and peace of the Principals at all times.
The family spend around 6 months a year in the property and there is only a housekeeper who lives in the house on a daily basis. The Gardener will answer to the housekeeper and live in a separate flat in the village which is only 250-300 m away from the house. Start as soon as possible.
Requirements
- 5 years' experience in households
- Knowledgeable about plants
- Able to understand trees
- Able to build soil and more infrastructure in the garden
- Good knowledge of irrigation and plumbing
- Fluent English
- Knowledge of French or willingness to learn French
- Driving license
- Good communicator and able to use email
- Self-motivated and eager to work
- Calm and relaxed
- Able to take directions
- Good with animals
- Clean criminal record
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensure that all flowerbeds, flowers, trees, and bushes are healthy and well-tended to
- Water plants
- Trim and develop plants
- Cut dead trees
- Build infrastructure in the garden
- Build soil
- Maintain garden machinery and equipment
- General maintenance of 4 cars (cleaning, cheking, no repair duties)
- Occassional chauffeur duties (driving the Principals to dinner and back)
- Light handyman duties (fixing, helping the housekeeper when necessary)
- Be a point of security for the house
- Assist the housekeeper in maintaining the house and property during the construction phases which includes securing the house and its contents while workmen come and go
- Reporting to the housekeeper

Salary EUR 38 000 - 40 000 gross per year depending on experience
