Job description
We are seeking a compassionate, responsible, and patient individual to provide care and support for an 80-year-old adult with special needs. This role requires a combination of driving, companionship, and assistance with daily living activities.
Responsibilities
Driving:
- Transport the individual to and from medical appointments, social events, and errands.
- Ensure safe and comfortable transportation in a reliable vehicle.
- Assist with loading and unloading the individual and any necessary equipment.
Companionship:
- Provide engaging companionship and conversation.
- Engage in activities that stimulate cognitive and social function.
- Assist with social interactions and outings.
- Offer emotional support and a positive presence.
Assistance with Daily Living:
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding.
- Provide reminders for medications and appointments.
- Assist with personal care tasks as needed, with respect for privacy and dignity.
- Light housekeeping duties as they relate to the individual's care.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving seniors or individuals with disabilities.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Background in caregiving or a related field preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
Important Considerations:
- Background Check: A thorough background check will be conducted on all candidates.
- Physical Demands: This role may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Emotional Resilience: Caring for individuals with dementia can be emotionally demanding.
Work conditions
- Full time, long term, live-out position.
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, some Saturdays as needed.
- Annual Salary: Depends on experience.
- Gas allowance range from $700-$1100 a month.
- Must have own car, preferably a Mercedes.
