Job description

Our VIP client is seeking an experienced full-time live-in housekeeper (M/F) who can also assist with occasional nanny duties. The ideal candidate (M/F) will be highly organised, attentive to detail, and flexible to support household needs within their impeccable home based in South Kensington, London.
This is a long-term role on a full time, live in, permanent contract basis, with standard hours of 9-5pm Monday - Friday all year round however, flexibility is essential.
The mother does not work so the role will be mainly housekeeping but helping with the baby when required and when the client goes out.
You will have your own studio room with a kitchenette, bathroom and a separate entrance. The family will have a newborn baby (due November) and a dog.

Responsibilities

  • Previous housekeeping and home management experience in a private household.
  • Cleaning to a very high standard.
  • Perform thorough cleaning of all rooms and common areas, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and polishing surfaces.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organisation of living spaces, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and recreational areas.
  • Laundry duties to include washing, ironing, folding and storing clothing and linens.
  • Handling delicate garments such as wool and cashmere, handwashing and ironing making sure all personal laundry is washed, ironed and stored in the correct manner.
  • To assist by running various errands as and when needed.
  • Applicant must be able to do the shopping, which will also include purchasing groceries and cleaning products.
  • Excellent attention to detail and due care for quality furniture and fabrics.
  • Wardrobe management.
  • Food shopping for the household.
  • Taking in deliveries and unpacking groceries.
  • Management and ordering of pantry and basic stores.
  • Family level cooking from time to time/ basic food preparation like chopping vegetables.
  • Schedule of deep cleans to property.
  • Dealing with contractors and deliveries.
  • Walking the family dog (mini labradoodle).
  • Packing/ unpacking for holidays.
  • Previous experience with babies and happy changing nappies and feeding with a bottle.
  • Confident in taking sole responsibility for the baby when the parents are out. They will have a maternity nurse assisting for 2.5 months following the baby's birth.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a professional housekeeper or similar role in a high-standard residential setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for maintaining a clean and organised environment.
  • Positive attitude and disposition.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to changing schedules.
  • Proactive individual capable of using own initiative when needed.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Reliable and trustworthy individual.

The ideal candidate

  • At least 3 years of housekeeping experience in private households.
  • Be available to work evenings (or weekends) should the client decide to go out, hours in lieu returned.
  • Good communication and work ethic.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • English spoken.
  • Pet Friendly.
  • Passport ready to travel with family (travel to Europe/Australia).

Work conditions

  • Start Date: January 2025.
  • Live-In.
  • Expected to work 40 hours per week.
