Job description

The Household Manager & Personal/Family Assistant (M/F) will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of a private household. This role requires a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple tasks, handle personal errands, and support the family in various capacities. The ideal candidate (M/F) will be discreet, professional, and adaptable, with a strong background in household management and personal assistance.

Also, travel ahead or with family to New Jersey summer home, ensure house is in order, fully stocked, and ready for arrival.

Responsibilities

Household Management:

• Oversee the daily operations of the household, ensuring everything runs efficiently and smoothly.

• Manage household, including suggesting of hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising (housekeepers, gardeners, nannies, etc.).

• Coordinate maintenance and repair services, ensuring all household systems are functioning correctly.

• Maintain inventory and manage the procurement of household supplies, groceries, and other necessities.

• Organize and oversee household projects, renovations, or events.

• Ensure the home is always kept to a high standard of cleanliness and organization.

• Assist in meal planning, childcare and pet care.

Personal/Family Assistance:

• Manage personal schedules, appointments, and calendars for family members.

• Handle travel arrangements, including booking flights, accommodations, transportation, and itineraries.

• Assist with personal errands such as shopping, gift purchasing, dry cleaning, and other tasks as needed.

• Support with event planning and coordination for family gatherings, parties, or other special occasions.

• Liaise with external service providers, vendors, and contractors on behalf of the family.

• Provide administrative support, including managing correspondence, filing, and bill payments.

Financial Management:

• Monitor household budgets and expenses, ensuring cost-effectiveness.

• Process payments, handle petty cash, and maintain accurate financial records.

Communication & Coordination:

• Serve as the point of contact for the household, handling communication with service providers, staff, and external parties.

• Coordinate with other household staff and ensure effective teamwork and communication.

• Anticipate the needs of the family and take proactive steps to meet them.

Requirements

 

• Proven experience in a similar role as a Household Manager, Personal Assistant, or Family Assistant.

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to always maintain discretion and confidentiality.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency in household management systems and tools (e.g., scheduling software, budgeting tools).

• Valid driver’s license and reliable own transportation is a plus.

• Flexibility to work outside of standard hours as needed.

• Knowledge of basic home maintenance, event planning, and financial management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Previous experience working in high-net-worth households or for busy professionals.

• CPR/First Aid certification.
