Job description
Our long-term client is seeking an experienced Head Housekeeper (M/F) to lead and work alongside a team of four other housekeepers. The primary location for this position is in the Kensington area of London. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, take pride in their work, and be willing to exceed expectations when necessary.
Responsibilities

Supervising and managing a team of 4-5 housekeepers, including scheduling, training if necessary, and inspecting their work.

Ordering cleaning supplies, toiletries, and managing inventory.

Overseeing wardrobe management and laundry operations.

Delivering exceptional service to the family and their guests.

Comfortable working around cats.

Ensuring high housekeeping standards throughout the property, including outdoor areas.

Caring for bedroom suites, including changing beds, replenishing linens, and maintaining bathrooms, kitchen, and garden.

Attending to the principal’s needs and ensuring their environment is comfortable.

Supporting the operational house team to provide the highest level of personal service to the principal.

Liaising with the principal to ensure wardrobes and other requirements are well managed.

Assisting with daily laundry operations, including washing, pressing, sorting, spot cleaning, and dry cleaning.

Planning trips and packing/unpacking for the principals.

Performing any other ad hoc duties as required by the family, demonstrating a high level of flexibility and willingness.
Requirements

Experience in a similar role, preferably in a semi-formal, fully-staffed household.

Proficiency in English; knowledge of Russian is a plus.

Hands-on attitude and a strong work ethic.

High standards of service and meticulous attention to detail.

Candidates with solid experience in 5-star hotels will also be considered.

Proactive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile.

Comfortable working around cats.

Team player with excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with staff and principals.

Ability to travel as required, with a valid UK or EU passport.

Flexibility with work schedules, including weekends and holidays, and performing duties beyond regular housekeeping tasks.

Proficiency in all aspects of laundry tasks and wardrobe maintenance.

Legal eligibility to work in the UK and travel within the EU as necessary.
Work conditions

Typical working hours are 9 am to 5 pm, 5-day work week from Monday to Sunday with two days off on different days.

Annual leave entitlement is 28 days, including English Bank and Public Holidays.

Enrolment in the NEST pension scheme.

Salary
£50,000 gross per annum, on a contract-only basis
