As a Live-In Full-Time Housekeeper (M/F), you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and overall tidiness within a private household ensuring that the residence is consistently well-kept and inviting, as well as liaising with external suppliers when required.

This role requires exceptional attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work independently. As the owners are British residing most of the year in London, the successful job holder must be able to speak and write English fluently as well as being able to speak and write Italian fluently. The job holder should also like dogs as the family has two small dogs which they plan to bring to the villa from time to time.

There are three buildings on the property: the main villa, a guest house, and across the road, a gym and garage (ground floor) and the housekeeper’s 2-bedroomed apartment above it. The gym is private to be used by the family and their guests only. The gym/garage/housekeeper’s apartment is currently under construction and is due to be finished in August 2024. The housekeeper’s apartment has an enviable lake view with a large terrace and parking for one car. The apartment will be provided fully furnished with a kitchen finished to a high specification including all appliances. It will not be possible for the successful applicant to bring any furniture to the apartment apart from small decorative items. Low key social activities will be acceptable, but the owners will not tolerate parties or any social activity held outside of the housekeeper’s apartment.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping Duties: Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, and polishing furniture. Ensure all surfaces are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness using products appropriate to the surface finishings. The Housekeeper can hire additional support, from the preferred vendors of the owners, during July/August when more family members will occupy the property.
Laundry Care: Manage laundry operations including washing, drying, ironing, folding, and organizing clothes and linens. Handle delicate fabrics and follow specific care instructions as needed.
Organization: Maintain order and organization throughout the household, including cupboards, cabinets, and storage spaces. Arrange items systematically and keep inventory of household supplies.
Meal Support: The owners enjoy cooking their own meals but during summer months support from the housekeeper will be required to help prepare for large family gatherings and to routinely prepare meals for small children.
Errands and Shopping: Run errands such as grocery shopping, dry cleaning pickup, and other household-related tasks. Maintain an organized system for tracking expenses and receipts. There should always be sufficient provisions provided at the villa in anticipation of the owners’ arrival. The owners will liaise with the housekeeper on what they require.
Pet Care: The family have two small dachshunds. Provide basic care for pets including feeding and walking if necessary. This will not be routine but will be needed at times when the family is in Italy but away overnight on short trips.
Security Awareness: Be vigilant about security measures within the household, such as locking doors and windows, monitoring visitors, and reporting any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. If alarm goes off unexpectedly liaise with CIVIS, our external security company
Communication: Maintain open communication with the household members to understand their preferences and expectations regarding cleanliness and organization. Promptly address any concerns or special requests.
Maintenance Oversight: Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed within the household promptly. Coordinate with external service providers as necessary to address these issues.
Confidentiality: Respect the privacy and confidentiality of the household members and their personal belongings at all times.

Requirements

Proven experience in professional housekeeping, preferably in a private residence or luxury hospitality setting.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and work independently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Discretion and respect for privacy and confidentiality.
Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
Willingness to assist with meal preparation.
Valid driver's licence (required for running errands). The owners are prepared to provide an electric (automatic) car if required.
Pet-friendly attitude and willingness to provide basic pet care.

Work conditions

Annual leave allowance is 20 days per year plus the 12 days of public holiday, ideally not to be taken during July and August which is when the property requires the most support.
Normal pension contributions will be made by the family.

Salary

The will be commensurate with the level of high professionalism required for the role and with the experience if the successful applicant.
