Job description
We are looking for a Head Gardener - Property Guardian (M/F) for our client. The candidate will be responsible for the perfect maintenance of the property's magnificent outdoor spaces. This is one of the most beautiful gardens on the French Riviera, covering an area of 10 hectares and of Mediterranean type.
The owners are present on their estate for part of the year.
The position is located in the hinterland of Nice, between Contes and Berre les Alpes (06), and includes accommodation in a separate house on the property.
This is a permanent contract to be filled by February 2024 at the latest.
Responsibilities
Taking care of the complete maintenance and management of the property's superb outdoor spaces (10 hectares in total).
Maintenance of green spaces (mowing, pruning, cutting, weeding, hoeing, raking...).
Meticulous and careful maintenance of flowers, boxwood, hedges.
Responsible for winterizing and the greenhouse.
Irrigation management.
Maintenance of gardening tools.
Establishment of treatment plans and maintenance of plants and land.
Planning and monitoring of interventions throughout the estate (pruners, olive growers...).
Guardianship of the estate and alert in case of fire or intrusion.
Site surveillance through a very modern alarm system.
Teamwork with a farm worker supporting during the high season (spring-summer).
Regular reporting to the owners.
Taking care of the dog and the owners' pets during their absence.
Required presence on the estate at night during weekends, except during holidays.
Requirements
3 to 5 years of minimum experience in a similar role.
Excellent knowledge of gardening techniques, good knowledge of plants.
Able to ensure great discretion to the employer.
Highly versatile and organizational ability.
Independent, dynamic, and honest individual.
Able to define an action plan, a schedule, and specific interventions.
Team spirit to work in tandem with an apprentice.
Good handyman skills.
Loves animals and can take care of them.
Driving license B required.
Must speak French
Work conditions
Job title : Head Gardener - Guardian.
Position to be filled : By February 2024 at the latest.
Workplace : Between Contes and Berre les Alpes (06).
Employment contract : Full-time permanent contract.
5 days a week for gardening.
Required presence on the estate at night during weekends for guardianship, except during holidays.
Functional housing that can accommodate a family: an independent house of 110m2 (3/4 bedrooms) on the property.
Small pets allowed.
Salary
Monthly net salary : 2300€ net/month.
