Job description
A lovely relaxed family are looking to recruit a Head Housekeeper for their small estate on the Hampshire/Berkshire border (near Newbury). This role would also be suitable for someone with previous private house experience looking for a more senior position or someone from a yachting background making the transition to a land-based role.
We are looking for a friendly, cheerful & pro-active candidate who will fit in to the harmonious and energetic team responsible for maintaining high standards in this 14-bedroom weekend home.
The Head Housekeeper will have extensive housekeeping and laundry knowledge, as well as experience working with antiques and fine finishes. An eye for detail essential. Experience in FOH and table service are vital for this role, wine knowledge and cellar care would be an advantage. Estate is fully staffed so no cooking or child care expected.
Responsibilities
All housekeeping duties
FOH and table service for both formal and informal weekends and events
Liaising with the Chef, Head Gardner, Maintenance man, and the Estate office to plan the day to day running, weekends, and events
House staff recruitment, training and rotas, holiday requests
Writing and implementing deep cleaning and maintenance schedules
Keeping the house bible up to date
House purchasing and stock management
Care of contractors
Estate security
Sole-charge pet care when family are away
Requirements
Due to the location of the house someone who loves the countryside and is comfortable around animals and country pursuits is essential.
You will have proven experience in similar role with checkable references
Happy to obtain Enhanced DBS
Full clean driving licence essential, own vehicle preferred
Work conditions
Schedule: 5 day working week to include weekends, with 2 consecutive days off in the week. Flexible in your working hours. Split shifts and longer days are required when the family are in residence
The accommodation on offer is a modern two-bedroom cottage with a small private garden within the grounds but separate from the main house. Basic utilities will be paid.
Well behaved pets will be considered.
Partners would be considered for a Houseman/handyman role the Estate are also looking to fill, please enquire for further details.
