Job description
A private and discreet family are looking to hire a professional Housekeeper/Cook for their beautiful residence in rural Hampshire. You will be responsible for the main house and guest cottage. As the family don’t tend to be in residence during the week, they are seeking an individual who is able to work weekends as and when needed.
You will be a confident cook who is conscious of the ingredients you use; cooking or preparing for the family on request, and catering occasionally for informal family occasions. You will also thrive in keeping the residence immaculate.
You will be supported in your role by the family PA and Property Manager, reporting any issues to them in or out of the property, as and when they arise. They are not based at the residence but attend frequently to see to any maintenance issues and performing other tasks on behalf of the family.

Responsibilities
- Confident cook who enjoys preparing/cooking/pre-cooking (and clearing away) family meals and on occasion, catering for Informal dinner parties
- Taking responsibility for ensuring the cleanliness of the main house and guest house (daily)
- Performing periodic deep cleans
- Cleaning windows inside and out
- Laundry, ironing (clothing, bedding and towels)
- Making sure the property is stocked for the principle’s arrival (as per instruction)
- Ensuring the immediate grounds surrounding the property are kept neat and tidy
- Supervising contractors/tradesmen when they are onsite
- Feed and care for the chickens and fish
- Security of the property and grounds
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a private household
- Must speak fluent English
- A can-do attitude
- Always operating with discretion and professionalism
- Must be a confident cook
- Must pide yourself on keeping the property clean and presentable
- Excellent communication and showing initiative are essential for this position
- Though driving is not part of the role, you must be able to drive and have your own car due to the property location.
- Enhanced DBS check required
- Excellent references required
Work conditions
- Schedule: 40 hrs, 5 days a week (weekends when family in residence)
- Accommodation: Separate 1 bed accommodation, bills included. Pets will be considered.
