Full time Live-in Domestic couple is required in York, Yorkshire, UK
An energetic and experienced Domestic Couple is required to join the team at one of the UK's most famous Stately Homes based in York, Yorkshire, the UK.
This position could be suitable for two separate individuals as well (a butler/household manager/chef and a hands-on housekeeper).
In addition to being a private home, the property is also a visitor attraction and the domestic couple with be required to work in both the private and public sides of the business.
A significant part of the role will include the provision of high-end hospitality to dignitaries and VIP guests.
The Principals sometimes entertain formally, whether that be privately, for the business or for let hospitality. More regularly the family have a more informal, modern lifestyle.
This is a full-time permanent position, start as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
Managing the household and the housekeeping team
Assist in event planning
Table setup and formal table service when needed
Cooking for the principals
Cooking for informal dinner parties (up to 12 people)
Informal table service
Interaction with guests
Some personal valeting duties
Wine cellar management
Management of household budget (shopping, stock control, accounts)
Occasional driving
Care of antiques, crystal, silver, fine china and linen
Supervise contractors
Liaise with other heads of departments, caretakers, gardeners and security personnel
Assist in the management of alarms
Occasional dog walking / sitting
Performing daily housekeeping duties consisting of cleaning, vacuuming, dusting etc
Make beds and change linens
Wardrobe management
Packing/unpacking, pressing and preparing clothes and arranging dry cleaning
Provide clean and well-maintained rooms for all guests as directed
Work to strict timings to ensure all rooms are guest ready as required
Washing windows
Adhere to strict health and safety rules
Requirements
Experience in a similar position
Experience caring for antiques and fine fabrics
Flexibility
Positive can-do attitude
Hands-on approach
Genuine love of service, entertaining, food and wine
Appreciation of historic interiors
Butler training
Welcoming personality
Very good cooking skills (not necessarily professional)
Able to work in a team
Able to lead a team
High level of integrity

Full, clean driving licence
Work conditions
Schedule: 40 hours over 5 days including evenings & weekends as required
This is a live-in position. A spacious 2 bed self-contained apartment with magnificent views is provided.
28 days holiday including bank holidays.
Salary
