Job description
An experienced and energetic live-in Housekeeper is required to join the team at one of the UK’s most famous Stately Homes based in York, Yorkshire, the UK.
This position could be suitable for a domestic couple as well (in this case they would serve as a butler/household manager and a housekeeper).
In addition to being a private home, the property is also a visitor attraction and the housekeeper will be required to work in both the private and public sides of the business.
As part of the Household team, the Housekeeper will provide an exemplary level of service to the Family and guests as required whilst ensuring that any daily housekeeping duties are undertaken.
Start: As soon as possible.

Responsibilities
- Provide clean and well-maintained rooms for all guests as directed
- Be able to work to strict timings to ensure all rooms are guest ready as required
- Notify superiors on any damages and/or deficits
- Support the Household Manager with family and business functions serving drinks and serving a formal table as required
- Provide personal valeting duties including packing/unpacking, pressing and preparing clothes and arranging dry cleaning
- Managing a wardrobe
- Prepare and serve light meals when the Household Manager is unavailable
- Performing daily housekeeping duties consisting of cleaning, vacuuming, dusting etc.
- Make beds and change linens.
- Washing windows.
- Liaise with the visitor attraction household team.
- Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practice
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Housekeeper in a similar establishment
- Experience caring for antiques and fine fabrics
- Appreciation of historic buildings and interiors
- Self-motivated and have the ability to work well as part of a team with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance
- Efficient, able to work quickly without compromising quality
- Impeccable appearance with a professional attitude
- Full UK driving license
- Practical and hands on approach
- First Aid training/qualified will be a plus
Work conditions
Schedule: 40 hours over 7 days including evenings & weekends as required
This is a live-in position. A spacious 2 bed self-contained apartment with magnificent views is provided.
28 days holiday including bank holidays.
