Work conditions

This role is typical for a second home in that the owners are in residence only half of the year. This means that the work load is more intense during those periods and much less during others. The owners appreciate that therefore the hours worked when they are not there should be reduced accordingly. The owners are open to the couple taking their annual leave together provided that:
(1) a month’s notice is given so that live-in security cover for the property can be arranged; (2) it does not coincide with the periods the owners habitually stay. Those periods are bound by school holidays and are early December to early January, February half term, school Easter holidays, May half term, all of July and August and Autumn half term. The dates can be provided a year ahead; (3) the period of leave does not exceed 2 weeks at one time. Also unusually for a role of this type, the owners are open to the couple having family to stay at the property provided that:
(1) 2 weeks notice is given to the owners (2) it does not coincide with the owners staying at the property (3) it is limited to a maximum of 2 family members (4) only courtyard bedrooms are used and not the family’s rooms.

Salary

  • € 50 000 combined NET salary
  • 3 months probation period and salary review at 6 months
  • One months notice to terminate
  • Use of one bedroom apartment
  • Use of company vehicles
  • 40 working hours per week with flexibility including time off in lieu of extra hours
  • 20 days annual leave plus public holidays

It also factored in that even after offsetting extra hours worked when the owners are in residence, there is minimal housekeeping and no cooking when the principals are not in residence. There is also reduced gardening demands during the winter months.
