Responsibilities
Property MaintenanceOverseeing the general upkeep of the propertyLiaising and meeting vendors and suppliersUpdating household manualsReactive and proactive maintenance of the property on a regular basisEnsuring the safety and security of the household at all timesRegularly interacting with the household manager in relation to property maintenanceFollow up on contracts for the entire household in collaboration with the Household ManagerSupervising the maintenance of the garden in collaboration with our trusted suppliers HousekeepingDaily cleaning in accordance to presence or absence of the ownersOverseeing the general cleaning of the property on a bi-monthly basisPurchase of cleaning and home suppliesLooking after the management of the laundry: washing and ironing of the clothes, including delicatesShoe polishingWindow cleaningMaintenance of the gym area AutomobilesLooking after the cleaning and tidying of both household carsMOTs and servicing: booking, management and report of faults to the household managerOtherResponsible for pick-ups/drop offs of the familyResponsible of children’s logistics (children attend 4 different boarding schools) in collaboration with the Household ManagerResponsible for food shopping and running errands when necessaryHelps with the packing when/if necessaryHelps with the preparation of the school uniforms on a bi-annual basis (winter/spring)
Requirements
Familiar but not friendly to the owners, warm but professional in his approachHappy to work around childrenEnjoys looking after the family’s petsFlexible and happy to work on weekends when/if necessaryA gentleman at heart, polite, charming, well-spokenA natural multitaskerIs independent but knows equally the importance of working together to achieve the best resultsIs an etiquette expert and will use this knowledge at the right timeHas great presentation skills and is able to represent the household when necessary Qualifications and skillsHospitality background preferredBilingual English/French speaking candidates will be preferred. Other languages (such as Spanish) are a plusExperience in household and residential serviceExperience of formal service of fine wine and foodMust cookValeting skillsExperience in caring for fine arts, antiques, silver, china and carsAbility to anticipate others’ wishes and adapt accordinglyExperience in delivery of a discreet, confidential unobtrusive serviceExperience with having children around and responding to their needsKnows London well and is an insider in the city (knows where “the best of” can be found – at the best price)Is thrifty and able to keep a budget for the household
Work conditions
Schedule: Flexible when the clients are in residence (including working at weekends); the butler or couple will manage their own time when the clients are away.
