Duties and Roles an Estate Manager Is Assigned

The duties of the estate manager depend on the kind of estate he is looking over and what roles he is assigned. Some of his responsibilities include

  • Staff monitoring: Aside from the manager, there is some other junior staff that he must be able to monitor in other to ensure they do their duties effectively.
  • Negotiation of rents and contracts: This person must be able to haggle fair rents for both the owner and tenants. He should also be able to deal with fees paid to junior staff.
  • Performance evaluation: as a manager, he should be able to rate all those who work for the estate or properties legally. Whenever there should be raises or promotions, this is his duty, and it must be fairly done. He works with them daily and should be able to know what they can do and not do.
  • Budget management: This is a vital function of an estate manager. He must be able to get things done at a reasonable budget. He must be open and transparent in all his dealings.
  • Excellent social manners: Etiquette matters a lot for a professional that knows his job. He must be seen in public as an honorable person and behave in the right ways. He must not be shady and dubious.
  • Liaison function: In the expected or unexpected absence of the property owner, the estate manager must be able to take charge and make the right decisions that will make operations run smoothly.
